Southwest 3 ball rollers
« on: April 11, 2011, 10:41:42 PM »
Anyone know how to file a claim with Southwest? I have one of the newer Turbo 3 ball totes and Southwest annihilated it on the flight back from Reno Saturday night. There tossing it around has destroyed both wheels, tore open the back, and also put a 2" chip right in the track of a brand new Infinite Theory.

This stinks as I bought the bag just for flying to nationals and drilled the Theory to have with me for the tournament and side events.

Did you sign the waiver saying they arent responsible for bag damage? Flying back from Southwest they actually lost my 3 ball vise roller. Luckily I got it bag, however, the undercarriage of the bag is totally ripped, one set of zippers does not open, and the manner in which the zipper is off the track damages any ball near said zipper. My Prodigy had several zipper scratches on it.

All I can say is contact the baggage claim office at your local airport that represents Southwest. The world renowned customer service that they boast about? I didnt see it, as several people were surly, rude, and short on their responses.

I don't think I signed the waiver, but it could be easily buried in the fine print on something that I signed.

I went on there website and put in a request.

I am relegated to the fact that I am probably screwed and will end up eating it. The bag doesn't irk me as much as the brand new Infinite Theory and the chip. This thing is right in the back flares of my track and will affect the ball performance.

Same happened to me 2 years ago They destroyed the zippers & ripped the handles of both ends and it looked like it was stuck on the belt burned a hole in the clear cover ,on my Lane masters 3 ball tote . To top it off they cracked by cell.  Southwest told me they would not cover it. And the next year the screwed up by new bag. So this year I got the Storm 3 ball roller with no clear cover, I am going to Line the bag with some extra foam rubber. So TSA can throw out the foam and say it was a hazard.  We used to do Bowling ball express for about 4 years it was $60+ one way for a 4 ball box. It is cheaper to buy a new bag every year then BBE. And to top it off BBE lost our stuff the last time we used them 3 years ago.

I usually use one of the original Storm 3 ball totes that had the shoe bag and accessory pouch on the side. That bag has been thru the "wars" and back with Southwest and Continental. One of my teammates didn't have a 3 ball tote so me being the nice guy that I am, let him use the Storm one.

The Turbo bag has the wheels elevated and not in line under the bag like the Storm/RG ones do. Made it easy "pickins" for the baggage handler to toss and land right on the wheels on the fly which I am sure led to my bags demise.

I will probably have to plug the chip in the Infinite Theory and be super careful to get it smooth since it is in my track. Not a good ending to an already long trip back.

Hopefully you have better luck than I did.  I was coming back from a tourney in Vegas and after collecting my 2 ball bag, I opened it to check the status of the balls.  What I found was interesting, the 2 balls and padded holder had overturned inside the bag.  My brand new Reign Supreme had scratches on it (from the tumbling) and when I confronted the Southwest Airlines luggage representative all they could say was, "that they weren't responsible for damage to athletic equipment and that I should contact TSA."  My response, "no thank you, I already dealt with the Totally Stupid Agency (TSA) today," and walked away.

Well we just landed in Reno today and flew SW and one guy was able to get his 3 ball tote onto the plan without any extra charges.  Then another guy same bag but was charged $50 bucks.  So I guess it's pending on who you check in with.
