Open - Re-Rates
« on: October 18, 2017, 12:23:28 PM »
Assembling my first team and bowling it for the first time. Not real fond of how much flexibility the USBC has given themselves to re-rate averages and 210 should be 215 but maybe that's splitting hairs.

Anyone had any personal re-rate situations that caused an issue? Maybe pushed your team to a new bracket because of rules like this *Teams in the Standard division cannot have more than one 210 or above average bowler* Say averages go 215-208-204-199-197, If someone gets re-rated 210 or above, now the team is forced to Regular division as you would now have 2 Regular bowlers.

I had it happen for Vegas this year.

One of my teams had the high bowler with a 187 average, but the team came in under the 900 mark.  So it's in the Classified division, right?

Nope, because unknown to me, she bought her PWBA card this year. If you have a PBA or PWBA card you can't bowl in the lower divisions.

So, to keep the Classified team somewhat competitive, I had to make roster moves which put them in the new Standard division. AND replaced a 205 average bowler from a Regular division team with the 187 average. Now I have two teams screwed, all because of the card rule. It also messed up a couple of my doubles line-ups as well.

Not to mention, 187 is being generous in regards to her ability...

Oh wow. So since you sponsor teams, I'll ask you. What's the benefits behind it because I was offered a spot on a team that's sponsored.

Nothing more than being a giant pain in my ass.  :o ;D

If you have six(I think) or more then there are some benefits, but I usually have 4 or 5 each year.

It's just my way to help promote bowling.

Also - I don't feel like it's their concern for this tournament, how much I've won in other tournaments back home, or wherever.

To me it is the gals fault for getting a professional card, when she probably has no
business getting it.

They need to do away with the middle (standard) division and raise the boosters to 185 or 190.

I've heard complaints about the size of first place prizes in the regular division.

This is the national championship act like you got some guts and bowl.
