Can someone explain to me why they have "Oil per Board: 50 mL", but "Volume Oil Total: 23.25 mL"? This is one weakness my game has when looking at graphs.

I think if not mistaken they mean two different things, the 50 ml per board is oil thickness, the 23.25 ml is total volume

if you get the us bolwer magizine there is a fantastic article in teh bronze tip section that covers oiling patterns

K-Dawg the 50mL per board is micro-liters the 23.25 is milliliters.

That part is not important.. What U really need to look at is the length and shape of the pattern and total volume..

But basically what Trig said..

The machine is set to pump oil out faster.. It's just a another way to set up a pattern to get the sought after taper with the new type of conditioners..

From the looks of it, if it's Kegel doin the lanes, breakpoint is aimed to be in the 8-10 board range..

Unless my math (which we've seen has been off lately) is correct, then the 2 board has 4.89 milliliters and the board 15L-15R have 23.25 milliliters?

4.75:1 ratio

there have been a few on pba.com that think that the pattern will play similar to last year. they are thinking that the team event will be outside again, but the D/S may hold up a little better, so you may not have to move in as quickly as last year. can't wait for some to start posting on how they played them.

Being a lefty, I don't see my shot moving my shot moving much at all for a three game set unless I hit a mess of lefties ahead of me.

Hand is not needed, as far as I am concerned. Last year I watched several people on a couple of squads before I bowled. They played around the 1st arrow as breakpoint. All of them were completely lost by the end of the 1st game.

My rev rate is only in the 250 -300 range, well below yours. I used a 2000 grit dull Visionary Blue/Green Centaur, looking for a breakpoint around 10 board at 42-44 feet, roughly. Turned out I was hitting just inside the 4th arrow, maybe 19 board. Stayed there for 9 games; by end of singles/doubles, I HAD to move my feet 3 boards deeper, keeping the same breakpoint.

Except for being such a crappy spare shooter (bringing plastic this year, instead of urethane) I would have shot 1850; missing 6 easy spares brought that to 1780 or thereabouts.

Last year in Team I struggled playing outside, very inconsistent.  I moved back in for D/S and shot a pair of low 6s, for me inside plays much nicer than out.  I'll find out in April if that holds true this year.

I think that this years pattern will play quite a bit slicker based on the volume, it is also flatter.

Most of the people I saw playing outside did not get their feet far enough right from the outset.  Most people do not understand how to play out on flatter patterns.
