squad times
« on: May 05, 2007, 01:29:42 AM »
Hey guys, I bowl the 18th at 2:30 for team and 9:30 S/D on the 19th. What should I expect this year since I haven't made national in Reno the past couple of times.

The lanes are oiled every morning and before each TEAM event. That's 3 times a day. I found the lanes to be fairly slick and watched as most bowlers had a problem with the ball finishing. The singles and doubles squads that followed the team events had a much better ball reaction than the freshly oiled squads. Most spares were missed to the right as bowlers waited for the hook to kick in.

If you dont mind me asking a question or 2. If I take my spare tire spare ball and try to throw at all my spares this would be a good idea? I normally use this ball only for 10 pins.

I also bowl on fresh both times. I was leaning towards robo rule and or mammoth and getting a Frankie May nib.

Any ideas on these balls?

I bowl on 5-16 at 2:30 and d/s at 7:am on 5-17.
Twister if your in the area and see a guy with white or gray beard and hair and kinda looks like Kenny Rogers from the side, say hi.

Thanks

Its allways best to throw at single pin spares with a plastic ball as it will go where you throw it it takes out the oil problem with over or under hooking

If you're planning on using your spare ball at everything, do yourself a HUGE favor and practice a bunch BEFORE you go. It's a totally different game. I switched over about 3.5 years ago, and I personally like it. But it's way different than hooking the ball at spares - you need to line up totally different.

I plan on doing the thing you suggest tomorrow and see how I do. I went to Baton Rouge and made a thumb change while there and even though it works for me now, it doesn't make any sense to try new things while trying to bowl ones best huh?

Straight at one pin spares is a good idea any time. Where they were running into trouble was with multiple wood.
