Taxi fares
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:19:50 AM »
Has anyone that went to Vegas used a taxi from downtown to Cashman? I am debating on getting a car since I am staying at the Golden Nugget.

If you are staying at the Golden Nugget you can walk across the street and catch the Binion's shuttle over to the Cashman center.  If you are not planning to go any where other than Freemont street or the Strip then I would not rent a car.  Cab ride from Nugget to Cashman cant be more than about $7.  I know from TI to Cashman is about $20 back when the masters was in town.

Thanks Phoneman, the best rate I have found is around $125 for 3.5 days and I wont be going anywhere other than Cashman and Wynn's on the strip. I figure I can ride a cab and still have money left.

Do they let you carry your bowling balls on the shuttle?  I imagine they would but has anyone done this?

Yes, they do.  We stayed on the strip, but when we were done bowling I had to head over to Binions to pick up my bracket money and there was no issue bringing equipment on the shuttle

Rent a car! We rented a full size chevy from Sat-Tues for 138. A cab ride from the strip to Cashman will be between 25-35 each way.

ooops my fault mis-read the post. Good Luck with that part of town. We went to pick up bracket money after our 830 team on a Sunday and freemont seemed deserted and un safe.

Thanks for the luck, I have been to Vegas around 35 times and never had any trouble downtown.

Being from Gary Indiana might help some.

We stayed at the Stratosphere which is further than downtown and paid about $13.00 each way.  Put two or three in the cab and its pretty cheap.

We originally were going to rent a car, but decided against.  Ended up using the Deuce (bus) to go where we wanted.  $7 for a 24-hour pass is fairly cheap and the buses are clean.

I am not sure about from downtown to the Cashman Center but from Harrahs which is right across from the Mirage on the strip it was $21.50 one way for a taxi.  We took one there and back and it was $21.50 both times which was pretty amazing seeing as we went and came back two different ways.

Renting a car is a good way to save cab money. But if you're that close, then get the Deuce for $7 a day. Clean buses and pretty reliable schedule wise.
And,depending on when you bowl doubles/singles,getting a cab after the later squad times can be a bit of a wait. Some friends who went before we did bowled late and waited almost 2 hours to get a cab from Cashman back to the MGM.
