My take....
« on: April 20, 2006, 09:48:04 AM »
April 16th and 17th...

Team:
Started with the my vapor zone up 8 and had a very good look.  There were 5 of 10 on the pair using particle.  Needless to say the transition was quick and I got behind the 8 ball early.  In retrospect I should've moved in but I decided to change balls and throw my rampage alittle faster, which was a poor decision. I finished with a nice 5 bagger into the tenth, just to throw a 3 count the first ball of the tenth.

Doubles:
This pair was NOTHING like my finishing team pair.  After two whole practice shots on each lane I had nothing.  Fished for the first 5/6 frames then found something.  The backends were super tight and lots of carrydown.  Apparently the team bowling on the pair were pretty much straight shooters according to my grandfather who watched prior to our squad.

Singles:
I got lined up early, this pair was like our team pair in the end.  I missed one single pin, otherwise I was pretty happy.

I stayed at the Hoover Inn, not the hilton but a decent hotel.  If you are staying there, ask to see their remodeled rooms.

My only gripe is the lack of practice before d/s.  I've been to a couple of tourneys and this bothers me.  I am 25 and can't get warmed up in 4 balls.  I don't know how the old guys do it....

Gotta do the stub lane.

We've gotten where we make faces at the camera when the actually shoot the picture.

It was only a few years ago that you only had 2 balls/lane practice for Team, too.

What's this about a stub lane?? This is my first year going to Nationals, so I'll take all the help I can get.

Not bad shooting, agroves.  Thanks for the report.

Joey,
There are photographers at Nationals who take team pictures before the team event and individual pictures before doubles/singles.  For the individual pictures, there is a short lane (no pins) set up with a camera mounted above it, so that they can take your picture as you make a delivery.  They let you warm up before you have your picture taken, so you can make a shot worth preserving on film (or digital memory ).

As has been suggested above, many bowlers pay for the photo (you can't use the stub lane if you haven't signed up for a photo) just to get the warm-up time.

I not only remember when they only gave two shots per lane in team, but when there was NO practice at all for doubles/singles.
