UPS Shipping
« on: May 17, 2005, 05:37:33 AM »
Hi,

For anyone who has shipped there bowling balls to Nationals via the UPS offer, can you provide some details?  I was wondering if you just shipped the balls in cardboard boxes, like you get them from the manufacturer, or if you somehow shipped the balls included in your bowling bags (Did you find a box big enough for your bags to fit in?).  I have a four ball roller, and don't think it would be possible to ship that full with bowling balls and was just thinking of bringing two separate 2-Ball tote bags with me.

Also do you have any idea what kind of advanced shipping you should provide.  I will be shipping from VA to Baton Rouge and was thinking that 5-7 workdays would be good.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Drew

I would be leery of shipping my entire arsenal (are part of it for that matter) via UPS, FedEX, DHL, etc.  Too much could happen.  Although the airlines could lose them just as easy.  That is one reason I don't participate in any tourneys unless they are within reasonable driving distance.  Just me though.

I recently took advantage of USBC’s shipping program and so far everything seems to be on track.  Four balls were shipped Friday (the 13th) with a scheduled arrival date of Wednesday (the 18th).  According to the tracking info they will arrive on time.  I used one of those boxes that holds four balls and placed each ball in an individual box.  Then used  mailing tape to secure the package.  Hopefully, everything is still intact.

I believe the estimated cost for shipping from the DC Area is around $22 plus a fee that USBC assesses at the center.

I also used this service.
Shipped stuff out 7 days in advance and got it there in plenty of time.
When I shipped my stuff home I only shipped 3 back and used the empty space for presents for my family.
I needed to do this because I punched out a RS-X while I was there. Now I had an extra ball to get home.

It's a nice service to have and it beats trying to lug heavy equipment around.
Also its cheaper than the airlines would charge you for the added weight.
free agency it is until i get a better offer.   LMAO
