Vise 3 Ball Bag to Reno ...
« on: May 01, 2007, 03:04:08 AM »
I am flying Continental to Reno and I am thinking of purchasing
a  Vise Triple Roller Bowling Bag, which is 4.2 pounds, and I am
taking three 15 pounders. This bag does not take shoes, which I will
be taking in a seperate bag. Question, any one use this bag and how did
it hold up, and two, did it make it under the 50 pounds. I will be weighing
all three individually, prior to trip.

Thanks,

I did not use this particular bag, but...

I did use a Hammer three ball in-line bag with only two balls in it and I was asked both times I checked in, "How many balls you have in there?"  When I answered "two" they said, "Good, you can't send three."  I said, "Even if the total weight is under the 50 lb. limit?" and they said "only two."

So, it might be worthwhile just asking your carrier if that is something they will enforce or not.  I flew with United.

Hope this helps.  Scott

Thanks Scott !
I just looked on Continental.com and it stated you can
have 3 in the bag, under 50 pounds, and I will definately
print it out so I can show the people at the luggage check-in
that its states this on their web site. The Vise bag is 4.2 lbs,
but my manager got a reading of under 4 lbs from the one in the
shop.
Thanks for the input !

I flew a couple of times last summer with the 3 ball bags and didn't have any problems with it.  With 3 balls in there; they are close to the limit, but still under.  I think all the times I flew was with Delta.  As far as how they hold up?  No issues from my end.  They are great.

on occasions where my bowling bag was 'overweight' (I remember 52lbs.) The airline did let it slide. No fee. However they did say if it had been 55lbs. they would have charged me...so I wouldn't worry about it.

I have a few friends that took up those same exact Vise Triple Rollers and they were just fine! They flew Southwest, who is well known for I swear trying to break bowling balls in half. If they didn't kill it, I don't see any company doing it Good Luck

Thanks guys, I weighed all of them individually, and with bag they are
fine. I am hoping that the bag doesn't get too beat up, but it was a
50.00 investment, and it has a strap if the wheels get messed up.

I'm flying Continental as well (this weekend as a matter of fact) and also have the Vise bag.  You shouldn't have any problems as the total weight is slightly under 50 lbs.

Have a safe trip!
