I may be in the minority, but I find this news dissappointing.  I don't care for Reno and was really looking forward to the tournament being in Orlando.  Oh well, I guess I can look forward to 2014

I think this will hurt entries.  3 out of 4 in Reno will be boring.

It's been said on here many times before but, the USBC picks locations based on cities that WANT to host the tournament.  If no cities in the Eastern US make bids for the tournament, the tournament will not be held there.

Here's an excerpt from the latest news from bowl.com explaining their take on why the venue will or may not return to the east coast.

"The impact of the credit crisis continues to be felt across the country," said USBC Chief Operating Officer Kevin Dornberger. "We recognize our members on the East Coast would like to see the Open Championships closer to home. The project in the Orlando area may not be ready in 2011, but we are committed to seeing an arena for bowling in this ideal location."

As the Open Championships continues to grow, fewer cities have large enough venues available to host the event. The Open Championships requires 100,000 square feet of convention center floor space for seven consecutive months.

"USBC has talked with nearly every potential host city in the eastern portion of the country," Mordini said. "City leaders are increasingly cautious about booking one event for seven months straight, even one with a proven track record of success like the Open Championships."

With that being said, it looks like a no-brainer to just keep it at the National Bowling Stadium, due to the fact that they will not have to build a temporary stadium every year during the unstable economy, people are scared and don't want to risk it.  I myself am not endorsing it to be held in Reno every year, I prefer to travel all around the country, but it is what it is.
