Title: What no Saturday events at Southpoint?
Post by: milorafferty on February 05, 2024, 05:35:27 PM
Why are there no Saturday practice squads or BJ squads scheduled for Saturdays during the Open Championships this year? Does Southpoint make that much money from open play?

Center won’t give up the lanes, they have too much business from leagues, and open play on Saturdays.

Riggs did a good write up about it when the news broke, I went ahead and booked my journal and team practice squads as soon as they came available to reserve, and would recommend that to everyone else as well.

Same here, we bowl at 2 PM on May 26th and would have preferred to have team practice on the prior day, but I grabbed 10 AM slots on the team event day. We will bowl the BJ on Friday instead.

I can see that being the case in the afternoon or especially on a Saturday night, but from early in the morning until about noon should be reasonable. It's not like they wouldn't be getting paid for the lanes.

Not that I know squat about running a bowling alley. :-)

In other news, Rick Ramsey has his series of events at Gold Coast this year if anyone is interested.

There are youth leagues on Saturday mornings, too.
