I've stayed at the Stratosphere before.  Nice place. It's at the end of the strip close to downtown and close to the center.  I might stay there I can get it and flight for $420 out of Raleigh.  The package deals are definately cheaper than paying for flight and hotel seperate.

I absolutely love staying downtown.  It only takes five steps to get from one casino to the next (instead of the 45 minute journey it takes to go to the casino next door on the strip), the rooms are cheaper, the odds are better, the limits are lower, the people are "real", and it's only a ten minute walk to the best dive in Vegas...Uncle Jackie's Basement (known as the El Cortez, to the uninitiated).  Terrific odds on the craps table!

"only takes 5 steps" Did you mean 5 staggers? Never ventured into the EL Cortez, always looked like you might find eyeballs on the floor.

As for the Girls of Glitter Gultch I have evaded that place the last two times.  The odds are purely -ev

The El Cortez is an absolute dump...smells like a wet ashtray..lots of alcoholics and gambling addicts...god awful seafood buffet (I'd rather eat out of a McDonald's trash can)...but Uncle Jackie loves his customers and treats them like family and I have a great time everytime I go there!

(Though I may have stepped on an eyeball or two...I felt something go "squish" but was too "happy" to care.)

Don't be too anxious to make your deals too far ahead of time.  Times are
tough in Las Vegas and discounts are getting steeper all the time.

Yep, I've always been a fan of Sam's Town if I need to stay on that side of town, but South Point Casino has become my new favorite for the other end of town.

Staying at my timeshare at Dessert Paradise. Rented 2 condos for friends and charging 200$ a couple. And my airfare is 42$ for my wife and I. My timeshare had given me free rountrip airfare for my wife and I a couple years ago. The only thing we had to pay for was the taxes.

Just booked 1 room for 5 nights (Thurs - Tues) in March at the Flamingo for $250 (tax incl).  Split a few ways, this is practically free!

Yeah it isn't the best hotel, but tough to beat for center strip with a weekend included.  Now to find a cheap flight...

I had booked the Orleans thru USBC for 6 nights over Memorial Day weekend for $390, but this week I recieved an offer from Harrah's Entertainment. Now we are staying at the Flamingo for 6 nights for a total of $205, not too shabby. The power of points, baby.

250,000 Harrahs points? Is that in 1 year?

It only takes 100,000 point a year to be a 7 star player which should entitle you to a free trip including airfare to any Harrahs property.
