It'll probably be the hardest, fairest shot you've played on.

Shot, yes; house, NO!

Love the oil amount; hate the house. Oh be prepared for a little more than average tacky approaches also. Humidity in Corpus CHristi can be VERY high.

Any loft more than say 4 feet out and the ball seems to hit a soft spot, almost a sprung suspension, so to speak, and jumps left, for a righty. I only bowled on lanes 1-8, 4 pairs, but several people noticed the same thing. Having played in dry houses for too long, I have a little more loft than some folks but nowhere near an extraordinary amount. I was quite surprised by this. It seems necesary to lay the ball down VERY smoothly, with very little loft. Many people do this; some don't. Yes, we should, especially on so MUCH oil, which I Loved.  But this bounce effect was hard to overcome, for me anyway.

If you're PBA-smooth, sand your strongest, earliest ball and have fun. Otherwise, be prepared to lay the ball down early, at least when they're freshly oiled.

good info mark.  also saw your comments about the usbc shot in another topic.  i also plan on bowling the btm and the 40 frame game.  we leave saturday 4/8.  i was most interested in your experiences with the battle.  good to know that i can use it during the btm.  however, based on your comments about the usbc, i am less certain what to bring for the open.  still thinking about it.

I think it's about 48 feet of heavy, flat oil.

The ABC doubles winners in 2 of the last 3 yrs went straight from bowling terrible at "The BTM" to the convention center to win. Both said the shot at "The BTM" got them ready by making them focus on their target and execution, though the patterns were different. I think our pattern makes the National tournament shot look a little easier, freeing up your swing there.

Are the BTM and 40 accepting entries on site or do you have to mail in entries?

So was the graph posted or is 48ft an educated guess? I once shot on a 46 foot sport condition in practice... That was different... 2 more feet may not a big deal depending on the volume, which I assume is light to light medium... any more than that would cause issues with the pinsetters correct?

Not if they have a pinchaser per 2 or even 4 of the lanes out back...

Capt Dave Ingraham:

It was NOT light oil; that I guarantee. The USBC Nationals was light.
I'm recall someone seeing a graph posted somewhere at the center.
