Title: Why heavier oil on the left side on the lanes?
Post by: Berreez on July 16, 2018, 06:44:10 PM
I’ll be bowling in my first USBC tournament in Las Vedas next year and I have a question. I’ve noticed that the oil patterns on the left hand side of the lanes are oiled longer than on the right. Why is this? It looks like the left handed bowlers are at a disadvantage from the very beginning. Shouldn’t we lefties be competing on equal ground with the right handers?

LOL!!! Dude....Really? I would love to have the slightly longer pattern on the left that you guys have! I could then at least score consistently.

You have no idea the amount of volume they put on the right-handers' side for us to navigate! By the end of the third game my strongest ball was not even turning to the pocket! It would hit the carry down and deflect as if I'd thrown a back-up ball!

Be thankful you at least have a decent "Look"!

I just bowled in Syracuse this past June. We brought six teams. In my group of six teams, the ONLY bowlers who scored well were the lefties!

DUDE!!! LOL Haven't been called that in a while. I understand the right side has lots more traffic than the left, but I'm usually the only one on the other side. So I don't have anyone to help break the lanes down. I know I will never be near the top. I just don't want to be shutout.

If you do get shut out, don't take it personal. The ball will still hook.

Funny, the longer the buff the better I like the pattern on the right side.
