« on: April 08, 2009, 07:53:35 AM »
I was just ask to fill in for a team mate that cannot bowl the last week of May..

I just checked online and R/T airfares to Vegas from Dallas are $350 bucks!! Ouch.. I was hoping to get a batter fare than that..

Hopefully they will go down before I go..

If you can get air with Southwest they have some good rates, I got air non-stop for May 16-19 at $229 total. I did pay over a month ago, but have been there many times and if I can go for less than $250 I jump on it.

Go to lasvegas.com and use the tab air-hotel, just an example golden nugget/usairways sat-tues $362.00 total per person, this is room and round trip air. Trust me this site is WAY cheaper than anyone else.

Keep trying AA.com.  I am flying from Des Moines (through Dallas) and got it for $228 RT... this was about 5 weeks before I bowl.  Of course, a lot depends on your flight times, as we are taking a redeye back.

Just for giggles (and out of boredom the last few minutes at work) I checked AA.com and all flights to and from Dallas are $339 RT.  I substituted Des Moines, and all sorts of flights came up $240 RT.

Maybe you book your tickets from DSM / DFW / LAS and not use the Des Moines portion...

Have you tried Vegas.com?  We booked through them for air and hotel and it was really cheap.  I'm not sure if you need to book the hotel room but they have some real good prices on there.

A quick look from DFW 5/25-5/29 shows air and hotel at Luxor for $400/person (2 people)

The other positive with southwest is 50 pounds per checked bag.  This allows you 2 checked bags.  We always check 2 - 3 ball rollers and then carry our clothes on...

Consider this when choosing flights..

I did southwest as well.. but you have to keep checking on a regular basis.  I got $99 each way from BWI (Baltimore) about a 4 weeks before my flight leaves which is this Friday.  Just be sure to print your boarding pass at home exactly 24 hours before your flight leaves otherwise you'll end up in C group and not have ANY choice on seats.  No charge for checked bags is also a plus.
