Centaur AMB Particle
« on: April 05, 2005, 12:39:46 PM »
Hello everyone,

Just thought I would stop back in and update everyone on the Centaur AMB Particle that will be released late this month.  I have been receiving a lot of emails requesting information on the AMB Particle, so I hope this gives everyone the information that they are requesting.

This new ball is a hooking machine.  I cannot emphasize enough that you will need HEAVY OIL.  The AMB Particle uses the same core design and weight distribution as the original AMB Pearl, and has a med-high load reactive particle coverstock.  The color is what we call dual blue (light blue with darker blue swirls)  If anyone wants a picture of the ball, just email me and I will send you one.

The RG and Differential numbers are nearly identical to the original AMB, and because of that,  this ball will create a tremendous amount of flare.  During testing, some of the individuals throwing this ball nearly flared around the entire ball.

We have had many bowlers throw this ball, and every one of them have said that this ball outhooks any ball that they have ever thrown by atleast 4-5 boards.  If you ever see lane conditions where you can't get anything to hook, this is the ball you will want in your bag.

This ball has been sent to Bowlers Journal and Bowling This Month, and the reviews should be found in next months magazines.  Bowlers Journal should have the review in the magazine that comes out in about 10 days.  Please read their reviews, because this should give you an accurate indication as to how much this ball really hooks.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at vbpadvertising@aol.com

Thanks again for your support,

I was struggling in my summer sport league so I decided to try the AMB Particle just to see what it would be like.  Sport shot #4 - 42' pattern, dont know how many units. The AMB Particle was drilled 4x2.

I had been using my Army Green Carbide Bomb on this pattern before with some success, but have been in a slump lately so nothing was working right for me.  When I stood at 30 targeting out to 15 at the arrows with the AGCB, the ball would  make a decent move back into the pocket.  When I tried standing at 22 targeting 10 at the arrows, the ball had too much length and would not recover back into the pocket.

With the AMB Particle, I started out standing at 22 targeting 10 and hit the Brooklyn pocket twice.  I then tried  standing at 32 and targeting 15 at the arrows and took out the 4-7-8.  The AMB Particle starts moving left almost as soon as it passes the arrows so I never got the ball out to my normal breakpoint area.  I only tried the ball three times on that lane condition but it seems that I would need to have more oil on the lanes to give it a true test.  Unfortunately, that 42' pattern may be the longest oil pattern that I would see although I am not sure it was a heavy oil pattern.

I know that our other sport patterns are 39' and 41' so I am going to try to bring the surface of the AMBP up a bit to 600 and perhaps try it again.

If anyone has successfully polished this ball (say brought up to 800 or 1000 grit and put a couple coats of polish on it) and used it on a heavy oil house shot, please leave some feedback.  I am very interested in trying this.  For some reason, I always have my best luck when I buy a ball that is too strong for the conditions, then polish the bah-jesus out of it to make it match up.  PLus, when everyone else is playing up the track, I like to be in the oil...  So anyways, any experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Strapper,

I am a high rev player (540 rpm),and decided to buy this AMB Part.  Reason.....my home house oils 38 feet buff to 42 and I am not quite sure as to the number of units.  Any other Visionary ball I have bought to this point, and I have a bunch, I have a hard time getting the ball to read the lane playing up the middle.  On the AMB Part, I have the pin above the bridge about 2 inches and the cg stacked under the bridge about an inch below with no weight holes.  I cannot get the ball down the lane at all and I have 5 coats of Brunswick Factory Polish on this thing. This ball wants to rev up as soon as it hits the arrows.  To keep the ball right of the head pin, I have to stand about 50, loft the first few feet of the gutter and hope I can get the ball right of 10.  If I do not get the ball right of 10, I have no chance.  Bowlers with alot of tilt or higher ball speeds will love this ball, but bowlers with alot of rev rate and average ball speed will have a very difficult time with this ball.  I have the Frankie May and that ball is a much much better ball for higher rev rates on higher volumes of oil.

thanks for the reply...  good to know.  I would doubt that I could keep the ball on the right side either then...  BUT, I know a couple of people who would really benefit from something this strong!
Thanks,
