Centaur AMB Particle
« on: April 05, 2005, 12:39:46 PM »
Hello everyone,

Just thought I would stop back in and update everyone on the Centaur AMB Particle that will be released late this month.  I have been receiving a lot of emails requesting information on the AMB Particle, so I hope this gives everyone the information that they are requesting.

This new ball is a hooking machine.  I cannot emphasize enough that you will need HEAVY OIL.  The AMB Particle uses the same core design and weight distribution as the original AMB Pearl, and has a med-high load reactive particle coverstock.  The color is what we call dual blue (light blue with darker blue swirls)  If anyone wants a picture of the ball, just email me and I will send you one.

The RG and Differential numbers are nearly identical to the original AMB, and because of that,  this ball will create a tremendous amount of flare.  During testing, some of the individuals throwing this ball nearly flared around the entire ball.

We have had many bowlers throw this ball, and every one of them have said that this ball outhooks any ball that they have ever thrown by atleast 4-5 boards.  If you ever see lane conditions where you can't get anything to hook, this is the ball you will want in your bag.

This ball has been sent to Bowlers Journal and Bowling This Month, and the reviews should be found in next months magazines.  Bowlers Journal should have the review in the magazine that comes out in about 10 days.  Please read their reviews, because this should give you an accurate indication as to how much this ball really hooks.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at vbpadvertising@aol.com

Thanks again for your support,

Hi Newsted,

To be honest, most of the people that have thrown this ball also threw the midnight scorcher.  They all agree that this ball hooks more than the scorcher, and definitely has more backend.

Jason,

I always wanted to ask, how does the AMB compare to the DC TOur?
I have thrown the DC Tour and the scocher, and was just wondering how they compare.

I have fallen in love with the Executioners, but am willing to give the AMB's a try because I loved the DC tour.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Most bowlers say that they can see a similarity in the roll characteristics of the ball, however the modifications that we have made tend to keep the ball from rolling out.  Some bowlers felt that the original DC core design tended to allow the ball to roll out too early.

The biggest change between the AMB and the DC core design is the weight distribution.  The AMB cap (anti mass bias cap) is an extremely light cap on the opposite side of the ball.  You will never have to worry about drilling out heavy materials and changing mass bias on this ball.  It sounds a little odd, but when you use a light cap to remove weight from one side, it creates a natural mass bias on the opposite side of the ball.

If you liked the original DC, I really think you will love the AMB.  Did you keep the DC's in box condition?  If so, you may need to scuff the AMB Pearl slightly to get it to roll as soon as the original, but I definitely don't think you will be disappointed.

How does this new AMB compare with the Super Carbide Bomb?  I've heard that it is still the hardest hooking ball around and that nothing is even close to it.  But from the sounds of it, you guys have found something.

Hi imjouster,

To be honest, I can't really compare a fresh super carbide bomb to this ball because nobody that tested this ball had a new one to throw against it.  However, a couple of people that threw the ball had one in the past, and said that this ball did outhook the super carbide and the carbide bombs.

Please understand that those balls were not tested side by side, and nobody associated with our company has ever thrown a super carbide bomb, so we are going on the word of some of our testers.  However, these testers are very good bowlers and are always honest with us be it good or bad.

Man if this is as good as you say I will buy one and pack it away until the oil shortage is over. I can't find a house with enough oil for a good solid reactive at this time, but I know they are out there and if this is more than the midnite then I am in!

The Midnight Scorcher was one of the strongest rolling balls I have used in heavy oil and is a tournament must-have ball, so I will be waiting to see how this new AMB particle does.  Guess I will have to call Betsy tomorrow and put one on pre-order.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you Crash.  The main ball I use right now is my Columbia Wild.  sometimes i can get my columbia wired to work but its usually too strong.  just bought a slate blue and its tearin up the lanes out here.  It's actually too strong for what i want.  but it still works.  but i may have to buy one and pack it away some where for when houses decide to start flooding the lanes again.  This ball truly sounds too good to be true

Well what can I say, I either have a ton of hand (I have maybe a little more than average) or its the fact that I live in Idaho and we don't believe in oil out here.  It's against our religion.  I find it insane when i come online and hear people talking about using their intense inferno or triple X-factor, or Backyard Bully for dry lanes.  If i tried to use them on our dry then the ball would flip over before the arrows and then go in a straight line.

Is this particle going to be easy to polish? the Garnite, purple ice and scorcher just ate polish.

Should be coming out sometime this week.  Any testers already try it out?

BJI tested it. Said they'd need oil equivalent to the MISSISSIPPI River, overflowing its banks, to provide enough oil to tame this "Creature from the Black Lagoon"!

Thanks, charlest.  Which issue was that in?  I will have to see if I can find a copy of it.

Probably not - but then again Visionary told us not to bother trying to polish the Scorcher. This new ball clearly appears to be a single use ball rather than something versatile. I'd say if the conditions are not right, keep both the polish and the ball in the bag and choose something else.
