Color: Flourescent Orange/Red Swirls
Factory Finish: 1000 Abralon
Hardness: 73-74
RG: Low (2.54")

Differential Flare:  Total Differential - .052"
Intermediate Differential - .015"
5-7" flare

Lane conditions:  Med Heavy - Heavy
Coverstock: Xiphos II
Core: Mixed Breed

Like it’s predecessor, the Xiphos II coverstock keeps oil absorption to a  minimum, allowing the bowler to use the ball for years without having to extract  or remove oil from the coverstock. Maintenance on this cover is very simple,  with an occasional cleaning and lightly scuffing the ball with 1,000 abralon to  keep the surface fresh.

The Mixed Breed core takes the best of the Mohawk and Serpentine cores, and  combines them to create a truly asymmetric core with a higher intermediate  differential than either.

REVIEW
The Mixed Breed is the perfect complement to the Spartan. The new Mixed Breed core and new Xiphos II coverstock gives the ball the ability to read the midlane like the Spartan, and then make a strong move off the breakpoint. For me this ball is a good 4 - 5 boards stronger than the Spartan on the backend.

I bowled with this ball on a slightly broken down house shot and kept the ball in box condition. My ball speed is about 17 and rev rate 350. I was forced to move in with this ball as opposed to my Spartan. The motion of the Mixed Breed is early rolling with a strong arc off the breakpoint and continuous through the pin deck. The ball does handle oil carrydown well. This is a medium to heavy oil ball and like the Spartan does need some oil to maintain ball energy down the lane.

Visionary has another winner. It was worth the wait on the release of the Mixed Breed. If you are looking for a ball that can handle oily lanes don't look any further than Visionary's new Mixed Breed.

COMMENTS

The color of this ball is the first thing that grabs you, it is BRIGHT orange with red swirls.

Drilled for a longer heavier oil pattern, and got exactly the reaction I was looking for.  Makes a good push through the front part of the lanes, reads the dry with a strong arc to the pocket and continuation is excellent.  Very similar reaction as the ogre solid just a few boards stronger.

Handled the carry down the 2nd game with no issues or loss of hitting power, but as with most agressive balls this one will need some oil to work as intended.

The ball is a Z spin ball and requires a little more attention when selecting your layout and Jason at Visionary was more than willing to fill me in on how not to ruin it.

Overall I am well please with this new addition and will be my benchmark ball going forward.

Miscellaneous Information
The Mixed breed solid is my go to ball when the lanes are wet and for sport pattern.  I like the way it rolls up at the break-point, very smooth and controllable. It makes a strong move towards the pocket and hits like a truck. It is good continuation through the pins. This ball does not roll out and it keeps the pins low and leaves very few corner pins. I would recommend the Mixed Breed solid and spartan are great balls for oil to anyone, a good 1 2 punch for oil balls  a good ball for tougher house shots and sport shot, if you’re looking for control in a ball that reads the oil well the mixed breed solid is a great ball .

The Mixed Breed is a very strong arcing ball not like a urethane ball. Creates a lot of friction when sanded correctly. By the second game today, that ball just kept overhooking and next thing I know, I have to stand on a different lane jst to get the balll to strike! Very affordable. Shot a 246 today with it though!

I used the Mixed Breed Solid Friday night during league play after struggling the first game with The Classic.  The first game I bowled a 126 and could not figure out the shot.  The second game I spared the 1st and 2nd frames with The Classic, but decided to throw the Mixed Breed Solid.  I moved two boards left until I found the shot that I was looking for.  This positioned me with my left foot on the 25th board and my right foot on the 22nd board.  I opened my shoulder, bellied the ball out and it came back.  But I bellied it out to far because it was hitting the pocket a little light.  Well, I struck out in the 10th and finished the 2nd game with a 179.

Well, the third game, I decided to play the lanes a tighter and just roll the ball up the 15th board and let the ball roll deep and tight in the pocket and WOW!  The Mixed Breed Solid back end reaction was tremendous and damn did it carried very well.  I even converted a 4-9 split during the 3rd game with the ball.  I finished the game with a 241.  The team I subbed for, which are my tournament group, were impressed with how hard the Mixed Breed Solid hit the pocket and how the ball held the its line, even when I missed my intended mark.  If I keep bowling with this equipment, I see my average increasing by the end of the year.  My average have has not increased in the past 5 years.   Also, weekly I am seeing higher scores and more 200 games since I have started bowling with Visionary equipment.  The ball was drilled with the intention of going long because of my low speed.  The pin is approx 4 1/2 inches from axes point.   Medium flare positions.  I am planning on purchasing another Mixed Breed Solid and several other Visionary balls.

Volume:medium

Old school down and in player. In oob condition I'm standing against the ball return and starting theball at 25 at the foul line, 19 at the arrows and smashing the pocket. This ball is the strongest ball I've ever had. Motion is similar to Bronze Centaur and Immortal Pearl, except in much more oil.

I absolutely love this ball and the motion on heavier oiled shots. I have this ball with the pin above my bridge with the mb 3" right of my thumb. This ball is the most continuous rolling that I've ever had. It's strong like my Ogre Particle, but with a different shape to the move at the break point. Think of the classic banana shape with a very strong move at the back end! The layout is 40deg x 4-1/2" x 30deg.

Likes: everything, except doesn't like lighter oil conditions, but it wasn't designed for that and that's what the pearl version is for.

Dislikes: Didn't get one sooner.
