SS Ogre: pin out 3 1/2 inches, 3 ounces top weight
Layout: 4 1/2 stacked (cg underneath the pin 1 1/2 inches from center of grip and on the midline), weight hole on the midline 4 inches from center of grip.
I drilled it this way simply because my Green Gargoyle is drilled identical and wanted to get a true comparison of the 2 balls. On your THS, the Green Gargoyle is very clean through the front with a pretty defined flip on the backend about 42-45 feet down the lane.
The SS Ogre when I first threw it out of the box was left in box finish (1500 grit polished). At one of the centers I practice at (AMF Center with a high friction synthetic surfaces) with their version of the THS, I could not control it. The ball had a flippy type reaction though it looked a few feet sooner than the Green Gargoyle. A friend of mine who is on Ebonite Staff watched a few shots and agreed that a change needed to be made as the reaction was way too uncontrollable on the THS. I put the ball on the spinner and took her up to 4000 abralon with Ebonite's Factory Finish on top of that. The ball was much cleaner down the lane which made it more playable but still had too much pop on the backend to make it too similar to the Green Gargoyle and that was playing 22 at the arrows playing 5-7 at the breakpoint. Back to the pro shop I went where I started at a fresh piece of 2000 to knock the polish off and then back to 4000. Now compared to the Green Gargoyle, it is a few feet sooner but not having the polish on it made it more of a hard arcing motion and much more controllable also allowing me to get in the oil a little more without too much worry of the ball being squirty.
Since the Green Gargoyle is my favorite ball, the SS Ogre was a must have for me. For those that have the Greenie and looking for something the replace it down the road, get the SS Ogre. I rate this ball a perfect 10 as it fits perfectly to what I wanted, takes to cover changes easily, and can be used on anything except alot of carrydown.

I use this ball on medium-light fresh house shot. My line is from 30 across 4th arrow out to past the 10 board and let it come back to the pocket. The explosion created by this ball throws plenty on messingers. The Ogre SS allows me to get down the lane to my break point with minimal effort. I throw between 16.5 and 18.5 mph with plenty of revolutions. This ball is pretty forgiving on wooden lanes without carrydown. So far I have thrown 706, 725, 690, 684, 737 and 648 using this ball 90% of the nite. I am going to get a second ball and drill it to go longer when the lanes go dry.

Left handed, ball speed around 16 MPH, rev rate around 300 RPM, axis rotation of around 60 degrees, and axis tilt around 30 degrees.
After trying several Visionary balls, I’m still waiting to find one that doesn’t do exactly what they say it will. The Ogre SS is an absolute joy to use. Some balls claim to have “easy lengthâ€. This one goes beyond that. I would describe its length as “effortlessâ€. But in spite of that, it is not at all “squirtyâ€. There is no hint of “hydroplaningâ€. It just seems to ignore any friction until the breakpoint. Dried (or even fried) heads and even midlane is not an issue. I haven’t found anything yet that would cause this ball to labor in getting down the lane. But if you think that a ball that gets this kind of length would be lacking at the breakpoint, you don’t know the SS. I tend to classify back end reactions as “arcâ€, “snap†and “flipâ€. This one is truly a “snapâ€. Basically a hard “hockey stick†type move. It really matches up well to the length. I’ve seen some “go long†balls that are kind of weak on the back end and leave soft corner pins. Others go long but flip so hard on the back end that there are lots of “designer spares†to deal with. This one is right in the middle. Enough length to give an outstanding entry angle and a move hard enough to shred the rack and fire messengers across the lane, but not so hard as to leave weird things with gaps in the middle if you don’t roll it perfectly. Another way of looking at it is that it has enough back end to turn the corner if the lanes are so dry that you have to give the pocket away, but not so much as to make it unplayable from the outside. This is a ball that makes me wish I had more hand. I don’t think you could have too much hand for this ball. One higher rev player I know of was using this ball to average 240+, until the “other†ball company that sponsors him found out he was using it and made him put it away. All in all, this is an outstanding ball that will just have you looking for an excuse to use it. Great job, Visionary!

This was my first ball by visionary..... I was looking for a ball that i could play straighter with on a house shot.... I wasnt too sure what to expect with this ball because i havent seen any visionary in my area at all so i drilled it 3 x3 stacked with x hole on my pap.....
what i got with the ogre ss is the ultimate fresh house shot ball..... i get effortless length with this ball and a very hard arc off the dry that just continues thru the pins..... The only drawback with the ogre ss is on longer patterns and carrydown... this is when its very easy to push the ball thru the breakpoint because of the easy length the ball allready creates so that is where you'd put the ogre ss back in the bag and get something else....
all in all the ogre ss is an excellent choice for the fresh house shot and shorter oil patterns........ on a scale of 1-10 with ten beeing the best i give this ball a solid 8......

Ogre SS seems to push down the lane about 2 feet longer and has the same smooth reaction but about one arrow less on the drier lane conditions.
Angular One – 3 3/8 X 4 – 4000 Abralon with Ebonite Polish
Ogre SS seems to push 2 ½ to 3 feet farther down the lane, but hooked about 2 arrows less in the backend. Angular One has a much sharper break point, and overall is just more explosive in the backend.

I bought this ball as part of the test staff platinum program. I really only wanted 3 balls but the package comes with 4 and they dont have a package for 3 balls so I threw in this ball thinking I would hate it as i was looking for more traction not skid/flip.
so what can I say about this ball? WOW!!! this is one of the most impressive balls ive ever seen. Anyone can make a skid/flip ball but this one is special. it feels like plastic the way it glides thru the heads and even skids in the mid lane and then as soon as it exits the oil pattern look out! it should come with turn signals as it jumps left big time!
the thing that really makes me like this ball is it isnt afraid of oil either. as long as there is friction in the backends it will still hook. the destroyer coverstock is really something special.
is give this ball a 5/5 for when the patterns fresh. but if it skids put it away and pull out the ogre pearl or something that reads the mids and carrydown better

Ball rolls like a marble in a bath tub through the front part of the lane.
Reads the mid lane just enough and then flips at the break like some one kicked it, yet it still controlled.
This ball is perfect on most house shots and short patterns.
Handles carry down well enough.
Definitely recommended.

For all intents and purposes this was supposed to be a short oil ball that goes long and snaps hard. That's exactly what I got. The ball looks amazing in my bag and even better going down the lane.
Ball Reaction- For me I seem to get about 48 ft then bam left turn and great continuation through the deck.
What I like about it is it's length, hit, and carry.
What I don't like is the fact that it's number two in the line up. This ball isn't for a fresh med shot. Once you burn a line, then let the striking begin.
I'm so impressed by the SS that I have the Solid and Pearl on the way.
As far as rating go I'd give it 10/10

At first I found the SS to be a bit squirty in oil (OOB), it really needed to see some friction to do much. However did hit very well.
Changed the cover to 2000 abralon (no polish) and got a very different reaction. This ball became much stronger, started up a bit earlier with plenty of backend. Couldnt really use it on light oil like this so decided to add a little polish to calm it down a tad.
Now at 2000 abralon with a light coat of Brunswick High Gloss polish, this ball is perfect for light med/lighter conditons. Great length very hard arc when it turns and absolutley obliterates the pins. I dont have a great rev rate, I imagine around 230-250, but the way this ball throws the pins around makes me look like a boomer!.
Great ball, and if you are considering one definitley dont be afraid to mess with the cover on this.
Id give the Ogre SS 9/10.

I waited to do this review until I got 30 games on this ball and enough time on different conditions. The ball is drilled pin right of Ring w/small balance hole. I left the Surface at factory finish. I have used it on on AMF Synthetic Lanes THS and wood each oiled to about 39 feet. This ball has control with a STRONG SKID FLIP back end reaction. I like this ball just as the lanes start frying. I am able to open up and know exactly how it will react. The movement is very angular. This ball gave me a sweet look as the oil line moved further in. I was able to hang it out without worry it comes back very strong and hits hard.
Likes: Length, Strong movement,Carry, and Color
Dislikes: Heavy oil and Carry down
This was my third Visionary ball I purchased and I am not disappointed again.

Drill Pattern: 5 3/4 x 5
I drilled this ball specifically for the wood house I bowl league at. The aim was to get length with a mild(er) reaction on the big end.
This wood house has a very light volume on the left side, with booming backends, so the key to this house is to get it to the big part of the lane on line. Trying the ball in house condition, it tried but this ball just wanted to react slightly early and would face up too soon. Seeing this for a couple of sessions prompted me to visit the pro shop and bring the finish to 4000 abralon (with the track) and Finesse burned in. My thinking was to get added length without having to completely take all hand out of the ball.
This tweak was just right. I can roll this ball (with some mitt) and it FLOATS to the big end where it CHARGES!! It does have a decisive tilt to it but it doesn't just jump off the spot. This ball covers a LOT of boards on the big end if the backends are clean. 15 to 5 on that house shot was all I needed to shoot an "8". Oh yeah....I almost forgot....this ball saves up a ton and HITS and HITS and HITS!!! Did I mention that this ball HITS hard?????
I got an added bonus....tried this ball on 2 synthetic houses I bowl in and because of the power off of the break point that this ball features, I was able to use it at both places....different synthetics with different shots...much straighter than the wood house but just get it to the dry and......it is just going to suck back to the hole all night long and make you look like you have a gorilla hand.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that this ball was that versatile enough to use in all the houses (house shots I know, but 3 distinctly different ones). Hitting power is in a word.....tremendous. Everything that others have said about this ball is true.....give this ball traces of head and midlane oil and you have easy sailing to the break point. Then.....it's lights out for the pins as this ball just flies on the big end.
I am very interested what one of these will do drilled strong. Only one way to find out!!

The lanes that I bowl on are notoriously wet/squeaky dry! synthetic lanes. My drill pattern are a dual angel layouts, I say 45x4x45 degree. It kinda look like a 11:00 shift, pin above and to the right of ring, with the weight hole above about 1 1/8. Right now I have a very limited time with this ball, because of the drilling! This ball does go long, but it has a very vicious Snap in the backend! Please be warned, if you don't have a aqualung, you could get the bends from playing soooo deep! Visionary named this ball right S.S. Skid snap!!!Keep up the good work Visionary!

5th season throwing this ball. A skid, snap, light oil. Great ball when lanes really break. Drilled at first, pin above middle of both fingers. On wood lanes great. Synthetics, skid a little further, then snap at the last minute. (Unpredictable for me) I did not want to give up on the ball. Did some lay-out studies. Decided to go to a Rico drill. I wanted the ball start rolling during the skid. Tame the ball a little during the snap. I've noticed this ball does not like speed unless a person have revs.
Threw 5 games with it, after league night. Was really impressed with the outcome. Down and in strike, got it out 10pin. Approach the same with my all my Visionary arsenal.

I got this ball to go long and turn the corner hard and that's exactly what it does. Mine is drilled pin up with cg kicked slightly to right...maybe 10-20 degrees. I am a medium rev/medium speed player and using it on THS mostly. When it's a little more wet I can play a down and in from 7-12 board and it will crush the pocket every time. When the line gets a little drier, it will turn up quick on me so I'll have to move in to like 15 at arrows and throw to 10ish board and it breaks hard and kills the pocket. I've been using this ball for about a month now and it seems to be very consistant with this action. I dont know what grit mine is at, but it has a high gloss polish on it. I've never owned a ball that skids thru the heads so smoothly but then make a monster turn. Skid/flip on steriods if you ask me! It is sensitive to ball speed. If you throw is slower its going to turn earlier and leave you with some nasty splits. Harder of course is going to send it right thru the break point and leave you with a wash out. Any ball can do this, but I've noticed it more with this ball. If you can be consistant and like the skid/flip action this is a good ball for you. I know I enjoy it and would reccomend it to others!

Two of the centers I have bowled in use AMF synthetics and the other has synthetic heads with a guardian overlay. The Ogre SS fits perfectly in my arsenal behind the purple/black Ogre Pearl. The Ogre SS easily gets through the heads and with a bit of friction makes a very strong move off the breakpoint. The ball drives hard through the pin deck. I find that this ball can be used on a fresh THS shot and also after the lanes have dried up usually in the second shift of tournament play. When my purple/black Ogre Pearl is checking up in the mids out comes my Ogre SS. As with most pearls the Ogre SS does not handle oil carrydown well.
Those looking for a ball to use on lighter oil conditions should consider the Ogre SS. Another great product from the folks at Visionary Bowling.
