Title: 1 more question for the Visionary Pearls...
Post by: clintdaley on February 28, 2007, 12:44:02 PM
Which one of these is the least angular, or most rolly....

1. G3 Gryphon
2. Bronze AMB Centaur
3. Immortal Pearl

For anyone who has rolled them...I have never seen any in action, let alone have 1....

I have 3 G3s and 1 Centaur and the Centaur reminds me of the original Inferno.  I wish I hadn't drilled the Centaur as strong as I did, I have no problem finding the pocket but have a horrible time carrying 10 pins. My mistake. My G3s are all drilled different so I get a good variation on reaction. I am very surprised on how strong the G3 with the pin under my fingers is. Very good carry with all 3 G3s. Gonna try another Centaur this time with the pin 5 1/2 from my pap.

Thanks Outrage...I am a Skid Flip HATER...I want something that is smooth..thus why I usually stay away from pearls, but from what I gather, the Bronze is pretty rolly for a pearl...

Keep em coming

Thanks!

Bronze least flippy.
Pearl 2nd but could be laid out less flippy.
G-3 the most flip.

Or wait for the Pearl Ogre that is the next release the way I understand it.  If it has the same motion as the Solid Ogre which I think it would for the most part...it maybe what you are looking for Clint.

Definitely the Bronze AMB, but one step rollier than that would be the AMB Solid.

Clint,   Talked to Lou Byers this week, and he said the new pearl Ogre will be out the end of this month. (at least to test staff). Yep, my Ogre is first out of my bag now....great read and sneaky carry. Kind of miss tossing my NoMercy combo, but having too much fun with the Ogre. The loud color also brings comments from several lanes down. Didn't hear the color of the pearl Ogre, did you?   Al

Can't believe they are coming out with another new ball this quick...somewhat unlike Visionary, but if they did discontinue the entire Gargoyle line like I understand, they do need to get some new stuff out there in the mid line to replace them.

First I heard about the new Ogre by the end of the month....let alone a color...

Gargoyle's were going to be replaced Clint.......that's why.  Otherwise you wouldn't see this many releases.

Yes, I knew about the Pearl being released sometime in March.  We'll just wait and see.  I am hoping for the same type of ball motion.

Just got my Bronze Centaur drilled up. Power tweener, throw about 16mph. Drilled it pin just above ring, cg swung rt. small wt. hole. Cover was left at 1500. Ball is very angular on our typical heavy house shot. Swing over 10 board, out to 5 and it comes roaring back! High flush shots didn't carry as effective as light pocket shots. Ball carries 10 pins very well also. Didn't leave one in first 3 games which is rare. Gonna take cover down to 1000 grit to try and smooth out the reaction some. Will do a full review when I get some more games in with this beast! So far, it appears to be another winner from Visionary!

From what I have been told by Visionary, the "first" pearl Ogre will be black/purple.

Yeah. I knew they were disc, but i still didn't think they would intro another this quick..but who cares..I still want the new Ogre..and if it performs half as good as the first one, its a winner!

I was interested in joining the visionary test program and was thinking of having
    Frankie May 5x3
    G3 4x3 1/2
    Violet gargoyle 4 1/2 x3
    Green Gargoyle 3x3 3/8
    Green blue centaur 2x2

How does the G3 and the Green Gargoyle compare to the storm Agent and Raw Doom

I am the Righty Rick Larence minus wrist guard.(crutch)
Good bowlers use the Big B
    Kiall Hill

Osk....thats a good question...I have not tossed Storm since 2001 and the Trauma days.....and due to some issues, I refused to even sell their products in my shop as well...so I have not drilled any up to even see what kind of reaction they can give...

Greenie is one the all time biggest skid flip balls of all time depending on how you layout.  G-3 not too far behind.  Of all the Hammers right now I'd say the Toxic is closest to the G-3/Greenie.  If the new Pearl Ogre is rolly like the first Solid Ogre ball motion and you are looking for more rolly than skid flip I'd wait for the new Pearl.  If not go for the G-3 for more overall oil than the Greenie.  Greenie for lighter deeper angles.  In the end it will depend on your layouts and conditions bowled on.

Thanks Clint.  Rolled a nice set yesterday in a local tourney 266 last game w/ the Solid Ogre @1500 est. Storm Step #2.  I think, I've found the surface that works best for me on most lane conditions.  Ogre carries very well.  Love the roll.

My pap is 4 1/2 over 7/8s up and i can have anywhere from 400rpm and 16 mph at pins to 200 rpm and 13mph at pins so i like brunswick alot and hammer but i am really interested in visionary because not alot of people use them and once i start using them people are going to say what is that and wow.

Scott, wondering what you saw in that coverstock finish and the conditions you are bowling on. What was the coverstock finish before applying the Storm's Step #2?

    Trim,

I took it to 1500 compound grit to battle a over/under on a dry walled house in a local tourney over the weekend.  I put that over the 600 OOB.

On basic THS where you have a little more oil across the lane I think an abralon finish will work best.  No polish.  Reads the mids better that way I think.  I'm trying my Solid at 2000 abralon tonite on Bruns. Anvilane 39'  See what I think.

the Immortal Pearl is pretty angular, I threw it from inside and when it hit the breakpoint it went dead left.
