Title: A little quiet this season!!
Post by: Matt C on March 18, 2016, 09:12:45 AM
was talking with Scotts33 today.

Not a lot of talk about scores and what not this year.  So let hear it people how are you guys doing this year.

I shot 814 with the Invasion/Attack combo early this year.
My buddy Todd shot 300 with the attack.

I will add since I started using the Warlock Hybrid XV I haven't had under 600 when I can use it.  Nothing huge but nothing poor either.  I like what I see with the Warlock Hybrid XV and will be looking at adding an Invasion soon.

BTW....to maintain WH XV surface which it needs because I use a 14 lb. 2.64 .028 I have been doing a light touch up on cup 4 sides.  Being that balls tend to go to 4000 so quickly the WH XV with it's high Rg can get going to long and not read the mids early enough for me.  I can use the WH XV in the track on fresh and move in as heads break down.

That's a great point you are making and good advice to others using High Rg like these balls. I have never match up very well with the Hybrid but the Pearl Warlock I really like.

Oh and I shot 788 with my Raven attack and Invasion in early Feb. I left some pins out there also, should have been 800+ :(

I shot my first 300 this year and have my avg. up to a personal high of 218. I can attribute both to the addition of the Raven Invasion to my arsenal. I've been throwing my Raven well also. I added a light polish to it recently and it's been a pleasant surprise as a third game ball for when the Invasion starts grabbing early. I would love to add the third Raven to the mix, but I 'm not sure if I'd ever get to use it. Been throwing my Crimson Executioner this year as well as my Charcoal Ex. With so many great balls from VBP, it's hard to get all of my arsenal some playing time!  Keep up the great work Jason.

Bowled a Match play Tourny this past Sunday.

1st round 3 games to establish seeding - 702 Raven Attack

1st round match play - 780 Raven Attack
2nd round match play - 695 Attack/Invasion
3rd round match play - 685 Invasion - lost this round, opponent shot a 279 on me his 3rd game.

But overall... best 1 day sets I have ever thrown.

My scores are in the toilet, don't throw visionary though.  Sorry for hijacking.  But it's telling me I gotta work on the physical game!

I bowl on Tue,Wed,Thu at 3 different houses.  Avg 220, 215, 195.  Bowled 12 tournament games in one day on dryer lanes with weak back ends.  Wrist is sore, so I added my Gizmo and decided to change my philosophy.  Changed from trying to make everything perfect, exact timing, exact line, perfect release and break point, to the old Golf adage of Grip-IT and Rip-it.  Looked at my mark, walked to the line and gave it all I had to give, speed and revs.  Shot 714, 710, and 700 respectfully.  Guess I will ride this new method until it quits on me.

Nice bowling Matt.

How are those that are using VBP equipment doing at Natl's and their State tourneys?

I really try to bowl less...more often.  :)

Shot 30 games this year at house that's traditionally known to be a lot harder than the main alley in the area.  Averaged 221 for the 30 games for the year, which isn't bad for someone throwing maybe once a month or even less.

Threw the Warlock Pearl most of the year, but last couple weeks the lanes were more oiled than usual and I had to pull the Warlock Hybrid out for games 1 and 2, then switch to the Pearl.  Still, been an interesting year and as usual, VBP still annihilate the rack no matter what!

I am hoping that I can get the Raven Particle Pearl drilled up and used over the summer and have that for next year.  We'll see.

Only one 299 this year using the Samurai. I am bowling in Reno on the 23rd and 24th of May. Taking VBP only.
I had a heart attack on May 30th. They put a stent in the artery going to the heart. I feel great but they used the artery in my right wrist so I'm down for three weeks. First chance to practice will be the Forty Framer or BJ.
I got this.

Nice bowling Matt.

How are those that are using VBP equipment doing at Natl's and their State tourneys?
Hi Scott.
I didn't do too good in Reno. First time rolling the ball since the heart attack and stent. I had a good reaction with my sanded Gryphon SE to start and rolled the Samurai in singles. I found the ten board to be the best break point on both days. Had a lot of strikes, but my spare shooting was the worst ever.
Matt, I'm trying.  And Thanks.

Good to hear Ken.  I wondered why a few if they have bowled Natl's didn't try an original Raven OOB or with more surface with a larger VAL angle to control the ball on the fresh.  I know Clark Poelzer used a Raven at Natl's a few years ago and did very well with it.
