Title: Another 300 shooter
Post by: Androooo on March 18, 2008, 10:56:52 AM
I would love to announce that my father, John Phillips, on Monday night, bowled his first ever 300 after 38 years of bowling!

The ball of choice? A G3 that I drilled up for him the week before. Needless to say, he loves it!

We are the only father/son combination in our state to each have a 300, and I think I got a bigger rush watching him throwing it, than I got throwing any of mine. First time I've ever seen him in tears. Soon as he threw the ball, it looked good. When it sturck, all he could do was turn around, arms outstretched and screamed "I DID IT!" and basically burst into tears.

For someone at 62 years of age, I'm sure he thought his time was running out.

Congrats to your father. A guy in the league that I am bowling in at the age of 72 (maybe wrong) shot his first 300 last Wednesday.

I always like to hear stories like this.  Way to go, John.  Who knows.  There may be another one around the corner.

I think it is incredible.  But what state are you from Lichenstein?

I can't believe in every state there is not a father and son that both have a 300 at some point in their bowling career.

Did you mean at this particular tournament...maybe I misunderstood.

Congrats!!  I too shot my first and only 300 with the G-3.  Pretty sure I'm going to get another G-3 before they get discontinued.

Lucky, it is correct I'm from Australia. If you go to a map, and find Hobart, you may see me waving from the little triangular island off the SE coast of the mainland

We only have 3 centres (or centers for the Americans ), and 300's are still pretty rare. In the state, we probably average about 3 a year. It's a place where if you have the front 9, EVERYBODY in the place stops. Just the way it used to be everywhere.

Just a little history about 300's here. Our first centre opened in 1962, and it took till 1988 for the first one to be bowled.

A half ten is not a great shot.  No, you shouldn't have carried it.
