Title: Blue sparkle Gryphon question
Post by: T_Bone on September 01, 2007, 12:28:13 AM
Can anyone tell me anything about this ball? I think this ball is more for light oil but can the coverstock be tweaked so the ball can be used on a medium / house shot. Does anyone still throw it?
Thanks.

A friend of mine had one, and used it with great results. Gets down lane pretty well with nice move on the backend. One of his favorite balls.

Blue Sparkle Gryphon is a good ball.  To me it's based off of the roll of a Blue Warlock but with a shiny mica finish. Even reacting medium ball.

I wouldn't change the OOB surface there are other balls that would do better in the Visionary line-up if you need to change the surface.

Thanks for the info and title correction. I am going to try this one for my light/med condition ball.

I had a BSG, scuffed the shine off with a green pad by hand and it handled normal medium oils well. Like MC said, the ball will get pretty good length and make a strong move when it's ready to.  Mine was sort of squirty until I scuffed it.  It stores a lot of energy and hits/carries well.  It's a pretty versatile ball, you can prep the cover for various conditions, I think I recall back in the day Visionary wanted to remark this as a benchmark ball, I can't remember that far back though.

I still use mine as my benchmark ball.  It is a pretty forgiving ball on off shots, meaning that it does not over react once it hits the dry, but still gives you some motion in the oil.  This is one ball for me that never leaves the bag. With you have above average rev rate, you will be able to use this on medium THS with no problem.
