Charcoal Executioner
« on: July 01, 2008, 12:50:02 AM »
Hello, I have a Charcoal Executioner that I obtained a little over 10 months ago and I originally had it filled and re-drilled for my hand. I couldn't really have it redone on a different layout because the original owner had his pin drilled out on one of the finger holes.

Recently I had the filler around my thumb hole crack and have been trying to figure out what to do about this ball. From reading the reviews on the site I can tell that this ball was either drilled wrong, or only drilled to work for a right handed bowler (I'm a lefty). I say this because I read that a lot of hook can be attained from this ball but it only gives me a small hook.

Here's the layout:
      0 0

       X

       O

If anyone has any ideas on how I should get this ball fixed I'd be much obliged. Basically I want to know if I should try to have the drilling completely redone, or just fix the thumb hole and work with what I've got.

I'd like to say one more time that I am left-handed and looking for a bigger hook action.

Amen to what Eric says.  I have mine polished up a bit and shot my high game (297) with one last spring.  This ball sold me on visionary products.

Thanks guys, I'm so glad that I came to this forum for advice. Now that I have such great results with this Visionary ball I'm thinking of getting another solid ball from them. I have 5 pearl balls and plan to trade in a couple for credit towards a new ball, I'm stuck between a Gladiator or an Immortal though.

No problem,

That's what we are here for.

As far as the new ball, what kind of reaction are you looking for?

At the risk of scaring you pisces_void.

I would suggest you go to your driller or pro and get your stats. for PAP and maybe they can give you an idea of rev. rate.

The reason, I suggest this is that the Solid Gladiator is a different animal than the Solid Immortal and it seems from what I've seen as far as users.....the Solid Immortal matches up better for a heavier lane condition the next step up from your Char Ex and works well for strokers better than higher rev rate guys.

I'd bet that your Char Ex would be very close in reaction to the Solid Gladiator if you had the same layouts on both.

Depending if you are looking for more hook and oil handling ability...you look at Solid Immortal, Solid AMB Centaur, FMG or wait for the Ogre Particle to come out.

Scotts33, I'll be sure to ask my pro shop guy tonight when I go to league. I have no idea as I've said before about that stuff, but I have been told by his lefty assistant who gave me a few tips with the charcoal that I don't have a lot of snap, but a strong roll. Don't really know what that translates to though.

As far as the reaction I'm looking for, I'd like to have another ball that can handle oil like my charcoal but with more length. Med/Heavy-Heavy Oil has been my bane so far, but now I see it's just because it was too much for my pearl equipment.
