Mini Review for AMB Centaur
« on: December 30, 2004, 07:04:02 PM »
Got our test balls a week ago and now tonight got a cranker to try this out. he also has the original centaur to compare side to side. He loves the original because it didn't flare but just rolled even and smooth. this is a similar reaction lots of roll, but a very skid snap reaction as expected. on fresh the ball was deadly but on carrydown the ball skipped a beat a little bit sometimes. on shorter oil the ball had problems as well rolling too early.

this ball also has some serious Flare issues! be extremely careful if you have a high rev rate because this ball does flare as much as they say it does. our tester was able to flare the entire cover of the ball.

Layout used was 4' from pap and cg was kicked out about 2 inches, his pap is 4 3/4 and he has 45 to 60 degrees axis rotation. rev rate in the high 500. the MB was placed in the #3 spot making the ball max out.

a weight hole was placed at 3' over from his center of grip, because he was flaring the majority of the ball so placing it anywhere lower and he would have rolled over it.

People your looking at some serious ball here. Woooohoooo.

never changed the surface, and out of the box the ball looks polished 1200 to 1500 would be a good guestimate

Hello Everyone,

What a fantastic ball by Visionary!  I drilled two of them with the following layout:

4 1/2 Control - pin fell above my ring finger with my Virtual Mass Bias at about the 4 o'clock location.

5 1/2 Stacked - pin fell right on the left side of my ring finger with my Virtual Mass Bias at just right of 6 o'clock.

I will post shortly the details of the great experience I had with these layouts and how each layout reacted.  Great creation....definitely a plus in the Visionary line!

Be Back Soon.

Hello Everyone,

I finally got to throw these two beasts and WOW, what an excellent compliment to one another with the layouts listed above.

First, I would like everyone to know and understand the versatility of this ball.  I say this because I'm able to change the tilt of my shot and the reaction remains very readable and predictable.

Second, this ball is simply phenomenal in its ability to store energy.  There is so much reserved energy in this ball it just flat-out separates the pins when it hits the pocket.

Lastly, this cover/core combination fits very well into the line at the G-3 Dual Tone end meaning, with the two layouts I have, I now have the ability to switch to my 5 1/2 stack and either stay where I'm at or move a little left when throwing my G-3 (when it starts to hang corners) or I can go to the 4 1/2 control and stay where I'm at or move a little right of my G-3 the 5 1/2 and G-3 are not working.

This review has been evaluated on a 8 to 8 house shot that had 25 games bowled on it prior.  This review has also been evaluated on the drying out transition of an additional 8 games that were thrown to witness the reactions.  And like I mentioned before, the ability to change axis tilt and move toward the track area was a nice switch.  The ball still had the ability to clear the heads and reserve a nice amount of energy on the backend.

My advice, if you're going to get One, you might as well get Two or Three.  This ball puts the exclamation point on the word STRIKE!  I had 3 other guys throw it yesterday side by side with Dirty Bomb and a Golden Nugget.....AMB was the only ball that was striking and the rest were hanging corners!  Need I tell you that they are buying this ball later today, all 3 guys!

Great job Visionary and can't wait for the next ball.
