Updating my arsenal
« on: July 29, 2003, 01:58:51 AM »
I'm in the middle of upgrading my arsenal.  I currently run 16#, and over the summer I have bought 3 15#:  Mutant, Deuce (both drilled aggressive and are my oil balls), and Target Zone (replaces my 16# Pink Hammer spare ball).  I bowled with someone last fall who bought 4 Visionary balls through the test staff program and he suggested they'd work for me.

I'm looking to replace a Danger Zone (medium-oily), Teal Rhino (medium), and Purple Rhino (medium-light).  All 3 have leverage drilling and are 16#.  The new scorers at my house clock my strike ball between 15.3-15.9mph with the 15# Deuce and 14.6-15.2 with the 16# Teal, and I usually wind up with about 18-22 revolutions.

I'm looking to go completely to 15# equipment.  I'm thinking about the Charcoal Executioner to replace the DZ, and the Crimson Executioner to replace the TR.  I'm not sure about what to replace the Purple Rhino with.  If anyone could help me out with suggestions that'd be great.

Thanks for your time.

Moondays,

From the looks of your profile you do real well with that DZ!  I would think that the Charcoal should match up very well.  Pick your favorite drill and then tune it to your tastes by adjusting the cover, it's very tunable.  It would follow that the Red should match up well for the mediums.

My self, for the drier conditions I like a weak drilled, shined up Green Gargoyle.  You may have a little too much hand for that.  Visionary has a ball slated to come out for the drier conditions but have wound up being a little too busy after Bowl Expo to concentrate on that just yet.  Should be soon though.

Other than that, unless your looking for a heavier oil ball you should be set.  I'm not sure what the status of Visionary's spare ball situation is at the moment.  The first ball they sub'd out was their clear Gargoyle and it seems to have been a problem for them with quality control.  (They are very picky.)  The glow and the red Amulet are out of production now, so time will tell.

Hope this helps a little!
