kinda hi jacking this thread but, to answer your question spare, I had heard tons of good things about visionary so I tried them.  I bought their dry lane ball cause I needed one.  That ball hits so hard for being a urethane.  I can't wait to try one of their higher performance balls.  going to be trying a violet gargoyle tomorrow.  Weird drilling though so I guess we'll see.  I'll post what I find.

Conversation between me and my girlfriend.

Her(what I hear):Blah blah blah blah blah BOWLING blah blah.
Me: What did you say about bowling?
Her: I didn't say bowling I said, DRIVING, I'm tired of driving.
Me: Ohhh. Nevermind.

I've been using Visionary,(among others) for about six years and have a few Visionary balls. My arsenal would be: Granite Gargoyle (I foolishly swapped my Midnight Scorcher), Charcoal Executioner, Crimson Executioner (my all time favorite), Slate Blue Gargoyle and Infra-Red Amulet.

I think when i was with visionary( some of the older posters remember me, i used to be the resident Visionary guy on the board.)

I used something like 18 or 20 balls. All long since gone now. But i still have 1 single charcoal Executioner sitting in my proshop that is drilled for me and i still use it on rare occasion, just to scare the bejesuz outta me at how strong they really are.

I think i had:
2 Charcoal
2 Crimson
2 Green Gargs
1 Granite
2 Purple Ice
1 Slate Garg
1 G3 which i loved until it cracked sitting on my ball tree from the ring finger all the way to the weight hole.
1 gryphon blue sparkle
2 Burgandy Gryphons which were the bomb.still have one nib
1 Scorcher which smells so bad i never wanted to leave it in my bag.
I clear garg
1 amulet
1 Violet gargoyle
1 green blue centaur

the only balls i didn't try where the warlocks. the Amb i wasn't allowed to throw. and no longer am allowed to throw in tournaments so.

but ya lol i'd thrown a few.

Here is my league set up:
Burgandy gryphon-polished
Granite gargoyle-polished
DC Tour Warlock
Glowing Amulet

Was having trouble with our houses wet-dry so went with the Granite and Burgandy to ease the transition from the dry and it worked perfectly for me. When I get carrydown the arc of the Granite compliments the "snap" of my Burgandy

PS- Just got back from Baton Rouge. You just have to love Frankie May, there just is not a nicer guy out there.
The Frankie May Gryphon is a great looking ball. Hope to be able to try one out. The ball just looks like it is going to score.

Honest to god i have never seen a ball like the charcoal. Strong Resin solid ball with a strong fast spinning asymmetrical core. I remember i was one time in northern quebec for a Track and Morich Seminar and Mo came over to speak to me after i was being coached a bit by Del. Mo said" what in the hell is a ball like that doing this far north?" I replied, " I'm glad you recognize it, cause no one else in the country does. What do you think of them?" He replied" well they make some good stuff, very good cores indeed my boy. You need to throw a morich ball and see the difference"

That encounter made me really think about Visionary. How often do you see one Company President and Notable Ball Guru admitt to another company making a great product? Rare to never is likely.

I do check these boards but don't post in this forum often. I know that Jason Wonders/AKA VBPadvertising reads once in a while. They still make A1 stuff IMHO. The AMB has really impressed me at how much the ball can flare, and i think it was a great move by them to try to get a few more balls onto the USBC approved list before they modified the Diff rules.

You have to have a charcoal in there, YOU JUST HAVE TO
With the right layout you can use it for a lot of conditions, by just changing the cover or you line.

see thats where im messed up, i got a charcoal, but it doesnt hook enough for me, and dumb old me polished it up, and gets a little more snap but not enough, what layouts do you suggest, its drilled up with pin at 3" its leverage 1:30

What did you polish it to?
What are the lanes like?

If it was giving you more hook when you put polish on it
then I think it might be burning up for you, and you might need more.
I have one drilled 1:30 leverage and it is polished to 1000.
At my home alleys the bal was dying at my feet out of the box.

J,

The Bowl4Money arsenal was what I would always say is a must in your bag travelling to a tourney.

If you're more interested in setting up an arsenal...PM me and I'll ask you some questions that will help me help you put a fine arsenal together, layouts will be suggested as well.

Talk to you soon.

Extremely creative line-up here....

Granite Gargoyle
Violet Gargoyle
Green Gargoyle
Slate Blue Gargoyle

Rarely do I use the Granite and unless I'm on the Sunday morning shot, I use my Slate only for spares. Rotate depending on house between Violet and Green.

Granite Gargoyle 4" at 90* sanded to 600
Charcoal Executioner 4.25" pin down at 75* sanded to 1200
Violet Gargoyle 5" pin down at 90* box finish
Green Gargoyle 5.5" above fingers at 75* box finish

Looking at getting an AMB Pearl to create some angle, and the Slate Blue Gargoyle for spares/toast
