Finally got my hands on a G3 and...
« on: January 27, 2010, 01:16:09 AM »
Yikes I can''t control it just yet.

I went with a length and turn layout because that''s my intentions for it but didn''t expect to get what I am.

----------P
-----O---O
-----------C
-------O

I can''t believe I''m saying this but I may need more carrydown to keep it on the lane.

Last night was a little drier than usual but less carry down because Charlest subbed.

My typical line of play won''t work with the G3 it''s far too strong and flippy for that so I''ll have to get used to moving more left.

I must say I LOVE the way it rolls though.

Anthony,

I can't use mine as it's a 16 but when I did I usually toned it down with a slight hazing.  I did the same hazing with a white scotch-brite pad on my AMB Bronze Centaur.  It really helps.

Good rollin' with the G-3!

After six more games I've decided to take the cover down to 800 grit plus Snake Oil.  I have found it to hate dry and hate oil on any part of the lane and physically back up in the face of carry down.  It almost reminds me of the orignal Blue Sparkle Gryphon.

The only line I've even remotely been successful with was pretty much straight up the 5-8 area with a lot of speed.  Most of my standard releases do not match up with this ball and layout and I leave a lot of corner pins with it.  I have been trying a slightly different hand position which is working up to this point.

I also noticed this cover and core combo creates sheer havoc when the G3 hits the pocket.  Much more so than any of my current VBP equipment, mabe too much because pins bounce off the side boards preventing others from taking out the 7 or 10.

To be continued...
