First Impression: Purple Ice Executioner
« on: December 21, 2003, 07:25:31 AM »
Urethane on steroids!!!

Specs: 16lbs pin out of 3-4", don't remember the top weight, and it's drilled with the pin 1" over and .5" to the right of the ring finger.  The CG is in the center of the palm in order to put the MB in strong position.

My goal here was to obtain an early rolling continuous strong moving reaction from the ball.  My sole purpose is to use this gem on tourny patterns, or sloppy THS.  On the lanes, which were wood second shift crown pattern, with alot of carrydown for some reason tonight, this ball worked well.

I started with my trusty Hercules and played 30 with my slide foot out to 10 as the break point and back.  The first game this worked well until more carrydown set in and a hold area developed.

After struggling the second game barely making it back to the pocket, I busted out the Purple Ice Executioner.  Standing on 33 with my slide foot using the same breakpoint the ball rolled about 25 feet down the lane before turning over.  The reaction shape out of the Purple Ice was one similar to my Hercules but even smoother and more controlled.  It started it's move about five feet sooner than the Hercules, and rolled completely down the lane without any flare on the backend.  There is no jumpiness here, no over reaction, and no quitting, it's completely smooth as a newborn's behind.

Positives:
Rolls absolutely true to it's design, the smoothest and earliest rolling ball I currently own and ever thrown.  Hit's like a mac truck strapped with plutonium, cracks the pins louder than most balls.  Doesn't leave anything near the pin deck, pushes it all to the rack or curtain.

Negatives:
Rolls so early it will roll out without head oil, and with too much carry down it won't turn over due to it's smooth and controlable read.  Definitely needs some dry to get it moving the other way.  Roll out places carry at risk because the cover is super aggressive.  Not for typical house walls because the ball will not work with the over under well.

So far so good, I will update later, PM me with questions or tips.

LMAO!!!

When I was typing the link I thought to myself, why am I doing this, someone's surely going to click on it.

I was already done with what I needed to say and said, well maybe if they see it doesn't work anymore they wouldn't be so curious.

Damn I miss that place too, they had all sorts of specials.  I paid $85 and $95 for my Gryphon and Purple respectively.

Sorry Gary!

Ah-ha.  So, I was set up.

But, then, I am one of those who just has to press that forbidden button to see exactly what will happen.

Well, at least now no one else will have to click on it.

I would love to go to Visionary directly and see what's going on, but I live about a 24 hour drive away from the place so, I guess that's out of the question.

How are the prices comparing to other sites and shops?

Eric,

I don't have $500 to spend right now, and I'm to stubborn to settle for anything less than that.

I picked up the beige and black Warlock rugby shirt from them, it's too nice to wear bowling so I wear it out.

As far as the Purple is concerned, Eric will probably agree to some degree it's best to go with a label variation on this ball as well, which ever variation that might be...I guess up to you.  My variation sucks on synthetics but is great on wood.

Basically you are paying for the balls when you do The platinum
I have been paying an an average of $100 some more some less
but right in that area for any of the balls that I have bought(about 10 soon to be 15)

Aud21946

If you are a test staff member they will ship to you.  That is what I have to do this time, because I will not be in that area anytime soon.

As far as the drilling I would say maybe more of a 4 to 4.5 x 5
You want to keep the MB out of the strong area from every thing that I
have read n the executioners.  Go label, and let the ball work.
My charcoal is label leverage cg in the palm, and the PI that I get will prob
be the same.

Eric,

Those are some great prices, and the test staff membership is also a great idea.  Sooner or later I will enroll in the program myself.

Yeah I am just glad I found them.  THe executioners have taken the place of my Rhino pros, and I love them.

Let me know what your 3rd choice is, and I'll be glad to give you my two cents worth.
