G3 - Two toned Gryphon?
« on: November 07, 2003, 02:11:57 AM »
Just saw that a new topic for this ball was started on the Visionary website but did not see any info there.  Anyone have any info on this ball?

Just got an email response back from Mr. Wonders:  Here is his response, he sent an attachment, so the numbers from it are listed below.

Hi Paul,

The new G-3 Gryphon is designed to fit between the Blue Sparkle Gryphon and the Green Gargoyle.  It goes a little longer than the Blue Sparkle, but earlier than the Green and has more backend snap than the Blue, but a little less than the Green.
We received a lot of requests to try and fit a ball in between them, and while it was a challenge, I think we made one that will work perfectly.  This should help bowlers progress from the Green, to the new G-3, to the Blue Sparkle as the lanes begin to breakdown.
I am attaching the G-3 drill sheet to this email so that you have all of the specs on the ball.  If you need anything else please let me know.

         Hope this helps,

Fencer,

Being a little rev challenged, (My Granite is drilled 3 3/8 stacked, my Burgundy Gryphon is 4 1/2 x 5 and my blue is 3 3/8 x 5 with the Green Gargoyle pin centered right above the fingers with the cg kicked out about an inch on the grip centerline.) with that said I think I would try this ball somewhere between the 3 3/8's and 4" stack drill for me depending on what my driller thought.

So far I couldn't be happier with the Gryphons performance.  The Blue was a little freaky at first but a little Control-It in the spinner knocked off just enough tack to bring it around to exactly what I wanted when I had it drilled.

Unfortunately I'm probably happier than I've ever been with the six balls I have right now and can't justify picking up one of these G3's or the Slate Blue Gargoyle at this time. Played that last year experimenting with the Gargoyles vs: the Executioners vs: the DC series etc and almost got lost.  Execution are good balls but I bowl much better with the length vs: cover the Gargoyles and now the Gryphons have given me.  Just seem to get better angle into the pocket.  The only exception is the axis leverage drilled Scorcher for those days you could paddle a canoe down the lanes for all the oil!

I became a test staffer.  I'm drilling the G3, Burgundy Gryphon, Granite and Green Gargoyles today.  Eagerly anticipating trying them out.  I'll keep you posted on what I find.
