Title: Gladiator Le short review.
Post by: getuaload on December 23, 2009, 12:44:05 AM
I drilled mine 4x2 , the pin is in the ring finger. I left it box finish, this thing is alot stronger then i thought it would be, atleast off the dry. Just as the Gladiator Pearl it clears the heads really easy while reading the mids good to, Once it hits the dry left turn . It does need some dry to make a big move. After 2 games we started getting some carry down and it was sailing past the break point. The hit & carry was very good .

I will try to give some more reviews after i get a few more games on it. With the holidays i will not be bowling much. But after the first will be back to normal.

So far overall , this is a good ball to start with if you have backends but if you see carry down you might want to put it away.
It can be used for all 3 with some adjustments.
Compaired to
Ogre Pearl - longer and sharper
Ogre SS drilled same , a little Longer but about the same backend

Any comparison or contrast to the Green Gargoyle or Crimson Executioner?

I'll need to contemplate where I want to put the LE.

Are you meaning the LE is longer and sharper compared to Ogre Pearl and a little longer than the SS or the flip side??

Curious....as with anything Visionary makes.....I will always try to get it even if it goes undrilled just to support them.

The way I comprehend that explanation is the ball will be too similar to my Green Gargoyle to own it.

For me the GG is an absolute beast on light oil it just blows the lane wide open.  I have trouble containing it some times when my speed isn't correct as well it just rolls so strong off the break.

I find my friend's SS compared to my GG to be much earlier and more even rolling.  If the LE gets slightly more length than that with the same if not a bit stronger finish I could drill it stronger to fit above the GG.  I may even need to adjust the surface to fit my needs.

Considering the Ogre pearl's reaction I've seen out of my friends that is much weaker all around than my Gladiator pearl.

Hmm...what to do with this ball...???

wow, not at all what I expected to hear from this ball. Sure doesn't sound like a "weak reacting pearl" from the description getuaload is seeing. ???

Yes the LE is longer and sharper then the Ogre Pearl.
The SS i campaired to had more surface on it, so that is why i think the SS checked up just alittle sooner then the LE.

The LE is very close to the Glad Pearl, However if you dont find some dry boards it will not recover very good. But if you have some dry boards hang on it will turn the corner very hard.

Though, I don't have one (the new LE)....to me Glad Pearl, SS Ogre, New Breed Pearl (have all of these or had) all have the same type of ball motion, hate carry down and to me play pretty much the same way find friction around carry down.  If, it was me I'd be purchasing the SS and leave it at that.  The others are way too similar. JMO.

Ok then case closed for me not buying the ball sorry VBP.

The Crimson and BGC will be good enough.

Thanks for the info,

Crimson slightly stronger than LE I'd guess Anthony but they are all in the same world backend and ability to handle oil.  That's comparing apples to apples.  Same layout, same type of cover prep used on same lane condition.  I really doubt you are going to see much difference.

I wish, I could use my old 16's but they are a different grip and too heavy for this old coot.

Scott is correct when it comes to back end move alot of them are simular. I did adjust the surface on the LE to the same as i have on the Ogre Pearl & SS. I will get a better comparison tonight as to how they react to each other with the same layouts & same cover surface.

I have every old Visionary ball made back to late 90's Anthony plus Faballs.  Many I have shot honor scores with so hard to get rid of them.  I keep them on a rack at home...kind of like keepsakes.  Last time I used a 16 was 2003 I believe.

While I might agree that the balls have similar motions off the dry (not the SS....never matched up with it and the way it was drilled) in that we describe them as a 'straight line' drive to pocket, the balls don't check up at the same time and really can't replace one another that easily.

When you throw in the SS as well, that's even longer....and definitely can't be compared to the others.

I could see the LE being something to replace the look I initially intended on getting out of the SS, but I just don't throw pearls with pin above bridge that well.

Just my two cents....that's all.

Mary: Well, Lloyd, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really...
Lloyd: Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
Mary: Not good.
Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million.
[pause]
Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance... *YEAH!*

Sorry....just couldn't resist since it was on the other night.

So it sounds like the LE will fit between the B/G Centaur and the Ogre SS?

My take on the B/G Centaur and SS Ogre.  For me and me alone with my rev rate and stats.  I can get in deeper with the SS Ogre and carry from deeper angles than I can with the B/G Centaur.  B/G Centaur for me carries better in the track area.

SS Ogre can work from outside.  Most Visionary pearls don't handle lots of carry down well.  Here the B/G Centaur on carry down would work better.  I am still looking for a Visionary ball that will handle carry down from poly and old urethane. NBPP is not it I've tried it all with that ball.

From what I hear C 2.5 is the one ball that works decently and ignores carry down. That's a very strong ball though.

I could have a use for this once I get my BGC and see how it reacts at 4000ab.  If it's as weak as my Too Hot at 4000ab was then the LE may come in handy above that.
