Gladiator Pearl Mini Review...Actual Pictures Inside!
« on: April 13, 2008, 11:15:40 PM »
Hi All,

Special thanks to Jason for getting this piece out to me early.  I went with the same layout as my gladiator solid.

On Edit: PICTURES!

http://www.putfile.com/album/185298

First off this thing is really sweet looking, this thing has great shelf appeal...everyone who saw it asked what i was throwing and that they really liked the colors...i will get pictures up later tonight

As far as reaction goes its exactly what i thought it would be...a longer more angular version of the gladiator.  The move it makes in the back reminds me of an Ogre SS, but a little more controllable.  It reads the midlanes much better than the SS also.  I was able to get in with it pretty easily and wheel it off the dry without a problem, as long as it saw dry it made a big move in the backend...

Like all polished pearls tho, carrydown was not its friend...im anxious to knock the polish off and see what it can do, but i like the OOB reaction alot so i may leave it alone for awhile and just let it track up and see what happens

In the end, it seems like a combination of the control of a gladiator with the backend motion of an SS...another great ball from V B P!

Look for a video in the next few weeks...

I was going to try to get one for Willow Creek upcoming next month.  4:1 flat pattern but I think my weaker drilled SS will do fine as there is not much carry down present.

Nice review Britton!

SS should be more than enough for Willow, the lanes dried really fast for us, I was using my Awesome Finish  drilled with the ring finger in the pin ball is pretty tame, and it was just flying after the first game.

Can't wait for the video Britton good review.

I may do that in the video, i kind of look at it like this

Gladiator is to Ogre Solid as Gladiator Pearl is to Ogre SS...

The Gladiator and Ogre solids complement each other nicely, the Ogre is better for playing straighter, while the gladiator lets me cover more boards and hook it a bit more thanks to the Higher Diff and Stronger Cover...i see the Pearls (Gladiator Pearl and SS) being the same way, the Ogre SS will allow you to play straighter angles and more into the dry, while the Gladiator Pearl will allow you to get in and cover more boards.

Again thats just my inital impression as i only have about 6-9 games on the ball, but we will see...

Hope that helps!

And thanks Scotts and Mainzer...

And if you compare the Gladiator Pearl vs the Ogre Pearl?

SO far it seems like the gladiator pearl will be able to cover more boards and is more angular in the backend...my ogre pearl reads the midlanes nicely, but when i have to move in with it its 10 pin city, it just doesnt create enough angle off the dry...

This baby looks sweet! Reminds me of a Smokin' Inferno with some friendly red contrast - but I ilke the clear color separation. Will surely look god when rolling down the lane

Thanks for the real life pictures!

Nice pics Britton.  Definitely looks alot better in these pics than the initial photo release.  Looks like it could be a little rough to match up a decent grip/slug color combo though, but hey, it'll make it easier to read in the mids lol...

I'd imagine thats what vomitting up too many Christmas cookies looks like.

Colors remind me that of some of the MoRich stuff like the UglyRevs.

But hell, if the ball rolls good, who cares?
