Title: Glowing Amulet?

Hey everyone,

  I just completed a great trade with Richlynn and one of the balls that I have coming is the Amulet Glow. I see that this ball is a polished solid urethane with the Gargoyle core, so here is my question. Is the Amulet Glow a solid version of the Slate Blue? After all, the only difference, unless the core was modified, is that the Slate Blue is a pearl and the Amulet is solid. Are there any other differences that I am not aware of? I have to be honest, I bought the ball because of how rare it is and the neat looks,but it would be great if I were able to use this ball as a good dry lane alternative. Any insights would be helpful.

As far as I know, the cover is the only difference.  The Glowing is a solid plus it contains an additive that makes it glow.  I don't know what effect the additive has as far as friction is concerned.

Please dont quote me on this because Im not POSITIVE, but I believe it is intended for mainly spares, or baked lanes.

I had a Glowing Amulet. It goes almost as straight as a white dot but hits. If you're bowling on dirt it's a great strike ball, but otherwise save it for the ten pin.

Gene, I've got a Glow that I use for my spare ball. When the lanes
break down I can go to the Glow and always find the pocket. Only a
matter of carry. When my Green Gargoyle and Crimson X are jumping early
I can move 5 to 10 boards right and stay in the pocket all night. Saved
some ugly nights with the Amulet Glow.

I use my Glow, polished, as a spare ball.  Figure I could use it on dry lanes if I ever run across them.

Compared to my plastic ball, the Glow will hook some, even polished.

I've got one Gene.  If you are using it for baked heads and want some hit/carry.  DON'T drill it weak.  A stronger drill will give you better carry.  Especially in those instances later in sets where carry down is always present.  You may have to drop your ring finger or come up straight back of ball to make 10 pin if righty.....so it won't hook by 10 pin.  Much better ball though if you are looking to use as strike ball.

I had an Amulet Glow for a short while. On anyhting resembling dry-ish outsides, I played up the boards or a tiny swing. The ball has very little length for such a high polish and a urethane ball. Much less than pearl resins, but more than polished solid resins. When going up the boards, it retained a train-load of energy and hit hard. (Mine felt slightly odd; it was supposed ot be 15 lb but turned out to be 14. Shot a 675 in a summer league, just chucking it up the 5 board. Bizarre looking, great hitting little ball.)
