Title: Granite Gargoyle- First impression
Post by: Spike2112 on June 03, 2008, 10:22:11 AM
Just got my NIB Granite punched up yesterday. Thanks go out to my driller Jackie Mitskavich; formerly LPBA pro Jackie Sellers. Drilled pin next to ring, cg almost dead center grip, coverstock left in box finish. Threw 3 games on a fresh shot (which at our house is very heavy), and was able to keep the Granite in play all three games, playing pretty much right over 10, out to around 5 and the Granite never burned up or rolled out. Consider myself a true tweener and throw around 17-18 mph. This ball is a beast in terms of hit and carry! I couldn't be happier with the look this ball gave me. Tugged a couple shots and came up high a few shots, but worst leave was the baby split. Light shots ripped the 5 into the 7 on several shots and high flush sent the messengers flying! Only left 2 10 pins and made both with the Granite! This ball was exactly what I was looking for and once the Slate Blue is drilled up this week, will complete my all-Gargoyle lineup I'll be going with this year. Of course I won't be parting with my favorite Hammers any time soon! Those who were smart enough to pick one of these up from Visionary (thanks Betsy for the all the help) before they quickly disappeared are not going to be disappointed with this ball! Oh, and it has to be the coolest looking ball ever!!!!

I'm surprised Spike hasn't updated this.  He had a chance to use this in his PBA league and shot well with it on the pattern.  Hopefully he'll give a little more info.

G,

So far, loving the Granite! Will do a full review of the ball when I get some more games in with it, but no complaints yet. Used it on the "Shark" pattern this week and the ball let me play right around 11-12 with good results. Chews up the heavy oil like no other ball in my bag right now. Very predictable roll with surprising length for a 320 grit ball. The hit and carry are amazing! As if I tossed a cinder block at the pins! Very little left standing if it's in the pocket. We got another week of Shark, so plan on going to the well once more. Picked up my Slate Blue so the all-Gargoyle arsenal is complete! Pics to come shortly...

Do you like the 'stubble' ?  It seems like the more oil the ball encounters, the more you can feel the particles.

Interestingly, my Granite hasn't "grown" a beard as of yet! Left it in box finish just to see if it was even playable at 320 and it's been great. Threw it for 4 games on the "Shark" and low game was 190. High was only 208, just couldn't string them on that pattern. As long as I didn't tug it, it was fine. Am finding out this ball needs to be cleaned after EVERY set. Never had a ball pick up as much dirt as this one. Cleans up quick and easily. Kind of like my wife. lol... Good thing she's never on here!!! Can't say anything else bad about the cinder block so far. Waiting for some others to sing it's praises, as once word got out about the blems VBP was selling, they went fast! Man am I glad I ordered when I did. Quickly becoming my favorite Visionary ball of all time!
