Man, Visionary stuff is fun to throw
« on: April 14, 2010, 06:44:51 AM »
I haven't thrown a Visionary ball in more than five years, but I recently decided to stock my bag with the stuff for use on house shots. Today, I took my first three nuggets (AMB Solid, G3 and Ogre Pearl) to the lanes for a test drive. Man, these balls sure are fun.

I grab the Ogre Pearl from the bag, and I proceed to smash eight strikes in a row. The ball just looked, rolled and hit in a sickening way! Then I grab the G3. That one didn't give me the look I was expecting, but once I figured out how it played, I had a very good look with that one as well. Finally, I moved way left to try out the AMB solid, a ball that I feared would be far too strong for me and my two-handed studliness (or something). Well, it was strong, but it was also smooth and very powerful as long as I fed it some oil.

Overall, I had a blast throwing these. I put these balls in my bag because I wanted to have some fun and throw some great gear, and, not surprisingly, Visionary stuff delivered again! I can't wait until Friday when my Violet Gargoyle and Greenie arrive!

If you've never tried this stuff, do yourself a favor and pick one up. It's great gear at a great price from a great company. If, like me, you threw it before, but it's been a while, get some back in your bag. They'll help you remember just how much fun bowling can be!

I'm a newcomer to Visionary, but pretty much throw their stuff exclusively at the moment.  My question though is if it's so much fun why did you put the gear on the shelf for 5 years?

Ogre Pearl and B/G Centaur a must for every house bowlers bag.  Cover medium to light.  Everybody makes an oil monster but these two cover the bases for just about any house bowler.

Unfortunately I don't have either of those, but NB Pearl, NB Particle, and Ogre Urethane - hasn't let me down on any house condition I have found yet.

I tell you what,i don't have the Ogre Pearl but the B/G Centaur is probably the most valuable ball to me that i own, its never lead to any honor scores or done anything amazing but when you hit tore up dry conditions the ball is amazing.

lmfcoa,

I stopped using Visionary once they were no longer product registered. I don't blame Jason or any other company that doesn't do so. I just didn't want to fall in love with balls that were off limits to me when I bowled regionals, especially when just about every company makes pretty good stuff these days.

As for the Blue-Green Centaur, that ball intrigued me from the moment it came out. I wanted to pick one up over the last couple of weeks, but I didn't find any in the price range I wanted. Thankfully, I think the G3 will actually serve as a pretty good control piece for mediums. If it doesn't, I also have a Purple Ice Executioner coming!

Gene,

Glad to see you got out and got some time in with the new additions!!

From the reviews you posted, looks like you liked the Ogre Pearl, which many of us thought you would.  Also, seems you got the same reaction I saw with the G3 since I had a the cover taken down a little.  Much stronger mid reaction, which I believe to be the result of the cover changes.

Overall, I think you're going to enjoy coming back to Visionary!!
