Title: Kudos to Visionary! New Test Staff Member!
Post by: BigWillyStyle on May 29, 2008, 01:32:52 PM
I had to post quick and complement Visionary on the whole process of becoming part of the test staff! Everyone I spoke to on the phone was very helpful, and able to answer my questions in an educated manner. They looked into specific items (like a few balls and accessories no longer in production) and give me an answer promptly.

I also called my order in first thing Tuesday morning, and just received it today. Very A++ when it comes to customer service! Everything was exactly as I ordered (though we'll find out if they actually put the guaranteed honor scores in the bowling balls like I asked for )!

All in all, I have been throwing Visionary ever since I first traded for a used Granite Gargoyle back in the day, and am more than excited to now have a full arsenal of just Visionary (though, I'm not taking the Cuda/C or Wired out of the bag...). You have sold me on your commitment to the customer, and hope to convince some people this year that Visionary equipment IS better than a lot of the ball-of-the-month manufacturers out there! Been stating it all along, but now will be decked out in my Visionary polos to prove it!

PS...I did make a few believers this past season when my old Midnight Scorcher came out of the closet, and out-hooked most of the new stuff on floods! People kept asking: "is that a new color Cell or something?" and "That Black Widow hooks more than mine!" only to find out that it was an old Visionary ball!

Can I please strongly suggest you look into the Gladiator Line and the Ogre Line. Ogre Pearl could be one of the best mid line balls ever produced!! Take a look at all the reviews..

I know about the Ogres, but I didn't wanna waste the freebies on the cheap line (they are about $30 cheaper than the other equipment to test staff members). I will be purchasing an Ogre Pearl, but feel no need for a solid or SS, as i feel the Frankie May and Green Gargoyle have those both beat respectively.

As for the Gladiator line, I was contemplating a Gladiator solid, bt felt more inclined to go with the Frankie May, as I have heard nothing but excellent reviews about it...for awhile. I will probably get a solid still.

I had to get a few of these, as the wifey was the one letting me invest this kinda money into it, so when she said that she thought the AMB solid was "really pretty" why not kiss a little cheek and "dedicate" a ball to her. It lets her feel like she's a part of my good bowling, and to be honest, I'm OK with that. I'm not trying to sound rude by any means, a I do appreciate the feedback, and really wanted to go for a whole 1/2 dozen, but another $100+ added on was kinda pushing it.

Big Willy Style

PS...I went with the Purple Ice Executioner, as I match up with Pearl Particles better than anything, and alas, this is the only Visionary PP to date (plus I've always wanted to try the exec. line).

I'll chime in here and say that you won't be disappointed with the executioner line (not that I'm biased or anything )

FYI...from my point of view the PIE is not like any other pearl particle that any other mfg. ever produced.  Particles are IMO a lot like the "feel" of the partciles in Midnight Scorcher or Granite. You can definietly "feel" them.

You either like it or hate it.  Depending on your technique/stats/ how you like to play the lane.

I appreciate all the feedback guys...keep it coming on ideas for the new stuff I just got. I won't be able to drill it til Monday anyway. My current arsenal (before this nw stuff just arrived) was:

Columbia300 Wired
Columbia300 Cuda/C
Storm Fired-Up <~~~~~~replacing with Immortal Pearl
Visionary Green Gargoyle
Visionary Granite Gargoyle
Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle (spare ball)
Visionary Midnight Scorcher
Morich Onslaught
Track Mutant Joker <~~~~~~~replacing with Purple Ice Executioner
Lane#1 Uranium Pearl <~~~~~~replacing with Frankie May Gryphon

I am probably going to drill the Immortal Pearl with a Rev Levrage drilling to rplace the Fired-Up (since it also has that drilling but is a bit weaker than the Immortal Pearl)...and drill the Frankie May identical to the Cuda/C (very strong drilling on it).

Please keep in mind, that I have 2 different arsenals, for 2 different houses. I use the Green and Slate blue at both houses...and the rest is split between the houses (I will have a 3-ball bag for each house with a Joey on top...and the Green and Slate are in a 2-ball tote).

Big Willy Style

PS...basically I will have the Onslaught,Wired,Purple Ice, and probably Granite Gargoyle (plus the 2 other gargoyles in the tote) for my Synthetic house...and use the rest at the wood house.

Good luck with the new equpiment, I have some on the way myself.

I will just say dealing with the people at Visionary has been a real pleasure, they are very polite and helpful.

Ogre line was touched on and I will agree that for the $$, that ball is better than the Blade Solid IMO.  And I owned plenty of the Blades!!

Sorry, but I am just now picking myself up after falling on the floor!!!

gsback is admitting a ball that does not have a Hammer on it is better than the Blade Solid.. Unbelievable..

Jason, you have brain washed Gary!! I have been trying to tell him for 4 years there are other ball manufactures out there, but he has never listed to me!!

I am still in shock..

Jim,

Gary would still be a Hammer-only guy if I hadn't gotten him into Visionary! I think sometimes he forgets who talked him into his first ball that DIDN'T have a Hammer engraved on the side! I was sold on Visionary after my first Greenie. This fall I'm going with an all-Garygoyle (pun intended!) lineup! I took my recently purchased Granite (thanks Betsy!) to my driller and when a buddy saw me pull it out of the box he said, "What the heck is THAT!". Owner of the lanes told him it's the same ball Fred and Barney used!!! Too funny. Plan on challenging Gary with my all-retro Visionary lineup. The gauntlet has been dropped...

Wow....I feel all the love and this is supposed to be about Big Willy Style and his Visionary Test Membership!!

OK...yes, Spike you did get me going on the Visionary bandwagon without a doubt.  But let's not forget that you sent me a non-manly 14lb in the process because you didn't want to throw the heavy weight that it was any more!!

Jim, you know I still love my Hammer stuff and you know my thoughts on the Blade series.  My records is still 11 of the same ball at one time with the Hi-Revs, but it's actually 15 or 16 total if you could what I've used too....but Blades were, to me, what put the excitement back into the Hammer name when Ebonite bought them.  I think the Vis stuff strongly resembles the older Hammer and we know how I love that!!

As for Spike and all Vis lineup.....that's how it will start.  But then he's going to go and enter the confines of a sweat logde, hit up on the medicine man's peyote and start having hallucinations about the old Faball stuff reacting great....the usual epiphiany about the ball savior of the week....and it won't be a Vis on Vis contest anymore!!  It is funny though as this year, he was throwing the newer Hammer stuff and I was always throwing my old relics in the Sledge and Hi-Rev....and now it would be me throwing more of the new stuff and him going retro!!

And Jim....the bet is on.....Tracy may want to get in....but I give you until October with the balls.  Let's see!!

No prob on the semi-hijack guys...glad to know that the Visionary crew can throw a jab back and forth at each other...without it turning into the Big B-Lane#1 people bashing each other and whatnot.

Big Willy Style

PS...any of you guys going to be at the Gathering in Winston-Salem?

Big Willy Style, welcome to the test staff club.  You'll find it is difficult not to buy one of each Visionary ball.
