« on: January 28, 2009, 01:20:36 AM »
I just got another IMS , The first one i had i didnt like prolly wrong drill.
Can any of you suggest/recommend your favorite layout for this ball.

My stats PAP 4 1/2' over 3/4' up
around 400-450 revs. 19-20 mph

It will be used on a typical house shot with med backends

Thanks in advance JP

Here's the layout I use.  I've used it on a house shot but it's a little strong because it is such a strong ball.

You can click on the pics to see what they look like too.

What was the first layout?

    I have two Immortal Solids.

#1 is drilled with the pin under the bridge and the cg kicked right about 45 degrees with a weight hole on the VAL.  I keep this ball as close to the dull box condition as I can.

With this I get a ball that rolls a little early when it reacts to dry but gives a very good, arcing, driving back end.  The ball doesn't quit.  Don't hit the dry too early though.  I am able to play deeper with this ball than most and still maintain hit and carry.

#2 is drilled with the pin over the brige and the cg kicked right about 50 degrees with a very small weight hole on the VAL.  I have polished this ball up to about 1200.

With this drill and ball I get excellent length and great finish and hit.  With this polish, it doesn't like carrydown but is very playable through the first two games.

Very different looks out of these two balls and in many ways compliment each other.  In fact, I have had people ask me if they really are the same ball because of the vastly different look I get out of the two balls with the drill difference and surface difference.

    Hope this helps.  Scott

    Scott,
What are your stats and do you have pics of these by chance?

Thanks, I was thinking about pin over bridge, should be around 4.5 from PAP.

When I had mine, I got a lot better roll with a 6" pin than 4.5".

The 4.5" ball basically did nothing for me... Just kept on flaring the whole way down the lane.

The 6" ball... well.... that was a monster!

I bought mine off video ball reviews and they did their research! it has the thumb plugged for my span but  every body complains about this ball but i love mine it rolls in smooth but a VERY big arc for me and still hits like a freight train!

I had one and sold it. Didn't work for me. Did the same thing you are describing. Flare with no movement.  Had it just short of 5 inch pin to pap. Most of my other stuff is 5.5 and over.  I think this cover, core and mb is really strong so you have to be carefull with the layout.  Probably the reason for the two drastically different looks in the earlier post.

Androo & Trim where pretty much dead on, But i drilled mine with the pin inbetween the dridge which made it around 4.5 to PAP. I got it down the lane and it made a huge move but it did seem to die right its big jump. I still like it better then my first one. I should have drill it with the pin above my middle finger so it burn up too early.

I currentl have the ball @ 4000 abralon , I think i will add polish and see what it does. thanks everyone
