Need help
« on: April 24, 2007, 03:52:13 AM »
I'm going to be drilling up most, if not all of my new Visionary pieces tonight. Here's what I've got going:

Frankie May - Stacked Leverage
Immortal Solid - Pin under and right of ring, mb 2-2.5" right of thumb. Pin C, MB 4 on drill sheet.
Ogre - Label drill - 2000 abralon cover
Immortal Pearl - Pin over middle finger, mb right of thumb. Pin 1, MB 3 on drill sheet
Bronze Centaur - Pin over and right of ring, mb 2" right of thumb. Pin C, MB 4 on drill sheet.
Slate Blue - Pin below bridge, cg in palm

Now my question is, if I get an Ogre Pearl, will there be overlap or do you see a spot where this ball will fit in. I realize I need a heavy oiler and a ball between the Bronze and Slate, but I'll survive with what I've got for now. But, I really want this Pearl Ogre. Help me make up my mind!!!

First off, and I might be wrong, but with that early rolling drill on the Immortal Solid, it might very well be stronger than your Frankie May.  I would go under bridge, or something like that, just to get the pin further from your PAP, so you don't have TOO much flare (a ball can actually flare too much, you know).  The pin under, cg kicked out drill might be better suited to the Ogre.

About the P/B Pearl Ogre.  I haven't thrown it yet, so I can't make a definite judgment about it, but I would think that it can handle the same amount of oil, or SLIGHTLY more/less oil depending on the drill, than the Bronze Centaur.  However, the hook shape, I believe, might be different.  This would equate to a horizontal move in your arsenal, as opposed to a vertical move.  If you have the money to burn, or if you see yourself needing a different shape on the lanes (perhaps a more controlled pearl, drill it like your solid Ogre), the P/B Pearl might just be the ticket.

Again, don't take my word just yet.  For all I know, the P/B Pearl is crazy angular.  But I would think that it is, as predicted by many, more of a "pearl-particle" look on the lanes, even though it's just a straight pearl cover.

Hope this helps!
