I watched the New Breed pearl tonight, I was very impressed it hooks a ton for pearl ball. No quit in it at all, needs medium on up head oil or forget about using it.

Very continuous reminded me of a pearl Cell not the Cell Pearl to be confused which for me is alot straighter than the solid.

Beautiful colors and lots of nice continuous hook, it will be one of there best selling balls in a long time.

ok i usually dont post and i know people are gonna say its not the looks that knock down the pins but you do need some marketability. the new breed solid to me and like everything just reiterating its MY PERSONAL OPINION that this ball looks like a kid drew it up. the baby looking dragon to the colors are awful. yes i know as long as it performs who cares and i know balls look much different in person than on web so maybe thats the case here. yes i wont deny i like both performance and looks in a bowling ball just my taste and yes i wil def trade looks for performance. hopefully that covers the comeback of who cares wat it looks like blah blah blah

The pearl is beautiful and the Solid in real life is about like a Gladiator Pearl with green tones and maroon.

Yes plain dang ugly would be the colors of the solid, Jason should ditch the solid colors real quick and just make them all the same pearl and solid the orange is very nice to say the least.

I'll state it again and again and again....from past history going back to the original balls....Visionary has always gone for the ugly WOW factor. Ugly to some and beautiful to others.

Performance always supercedes appearance......in bowling equipment.

actually i like almost all of they'r other balls as of recent bc i really haven't seen many other older balls. this 1 just seems to kid like. but i have noticed some websites the balls look like what they would in real life and differ dramaticly from that of comercial ad pics other websites use. so maybe like i said this is the case but at same time how can you let that almost kid like dragon on the ball after seeing some of they're other artwork on balls and on website. o well who am i, nobody thats who.

Some how Jason decided to send me an Info sheet on these new balls and 1 thing jumped to mind, both of these balls use the same core as the old Hammer Spike with a slight alteration for a stronger Mb, if any of you have received the same offer/Info sheet I did, take a close look @ the Hammer Spike and compare. http://bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=164

zmansmustang, what you have is an opinion....and that's fine.

I mentioned something in another post about what it's got to be like to come up with colors and designs, etc....and it's got to be tough.  And I am not taking a shot at you when I say this, but I think that the people that are outspoken are so on everything.

Go into the PBA forum and for every one person you find, like me, who is disappointed that he missed the PBA show and will watch them no matter what they idea is.....there are 3 or more that tell you it sucked....or that they could do better producing it....or coming up with ideas.

As I said before....the idea is to get people interested in the ball!!  Hammer has been doing that with the different releases.  It's my opinion that the Toxics were the same....shock value.  But again, if that's what it takes to get people to notice....then that's how you approach it!!

Ok Scott, thanks for the link but I saw no mention of how Visionary could use the Spike core in the New Breed? I thought that when FABAL was bought out by Ebonite, Ebonite bought all rights to All Fabal's cores/cover's, did I miss something in that transaction, did Visionary pay Ebonite/Hammer for the rights to this core or did Hammer only buy the Name?

I don't remember Jason ever saying it was the same design as the Spike core.  I think it you look at enough cores, they start to resemble on another over time as there are only so many variations I am sure you can make.

Nope the 3D core is owned by Mo Pinel and will not be in any ball unless he allows it to be.

Drrev2000, I agree with you....believe me.

I guess my point was that for the most part, a core is a core and unless there is a specific patent on it for some reason....I would think everyone 'borrows' a little from someone else over time, that's all.

That's the bottom line! I could care less if they put Spyro on the friggin' thing, it's a Visionary ball and I have no doubts it will roll, hit and carry as all Visionary balls do. If I didn't already have 6 awesome Visionary balls in my current arsenal (that I'm perfectly happy with right now), I'd have one of these weapons in my bag. I'm sure the forthcoming reviews will prove me right.

Guys,

Its funny that the core does look like the old hammer line up, but its even more funny that visionary is located here in St. Louis, at the old faball plant!!!! Now that is a double coincidence huh?

Sorry tizzle we as a group should have asked.

FYI.....when you look at the engravings of Visionary equipment you'll notice the resemblance to the old Faball engravings.  That's the dead give away.

  Tizzle,

Here is a story directly from Jason as to how this all came about.  It was from a thread quite a while back, but I saved a copy for myself because it was interesting.

quote:
When my father decided that he wanted to make bowling balls, he found a gentleman in Ohio that had all of the equipment, and had been making polyester bowling balls on a very small scale. This man was John Fabanich.

John Fabanich had stopped producing bowling balls, and was going to close the company, so my father and a gentleman named Earl Widman, bought the equipment and molds, and moved everything to St. Louis. As part of an agreement they made, they continued to call the company Faball. A couple years later, my father developed a thick shelled urethane ball called the Black Hammer.

After several years, Faball Enterprises was one of the largest bowling ball manufacturers in the world. When the quantity of balls needed surpassed the amount that they could make in St. Louis, they licensed the production rights out to a facility in Utah, and one in Baltimore MD. At that point, there were 3 facilities manufacturing Hammers to keep up with demand. Eventually, the Baltimore facility took over the entire production, and produced the balls for us up until 2002 when we sold the brand to Ebonite.

Hope this clears some things up,

Sometimes I wonder if that "facility" in Utah was HSP, which eventually turned out to be STORM?

Thanks for this bit of history.  I began bowling after Faball/Hammer became an Ebonite brand and did not know any of the connections.

Finally got to use the pearl in league. Much stronger backend than the SS Ogre I normally use. 199,225,253-677. Took 3/4 of the first game to get the shot had to move feet 5 boards right from practice, and shot 3 boards right. Stood on 20 rolled over 9 at dots. Ball got easy length in front and started its move late mid lane. Our house shot is very tight have to play outside. Great ball my new go to.
