Green Gargoyle question
« on: December 31, 2008, 09:42:46 AM »
Can't decide between the Ogre Pearl and the Green Gargoyle.  Are these really different on the lanes?

 - I know the core and cover are different - I see the stronger core numbers and harder cover of the Green - it is the harder cover that is the real question - harder cover should equal more length - but the stronger core might balance it out - making it similar to the newer Ogre - these numbers seem to say that the ball skids to the last 15 feet then hard left turn - but as noted in other posts - the numbers are not every thing.

Cover is 70% of ball reaction.  The Green Gargoyle is definitely longer and more angular than the Ogres.  I have them both.  The Purple/Black Ogre is earlier and more overall hook though it can be drilled for a more skid/flip reaction.

Thank you Steve - It sounds like there is a place for both.  I think I will order a Green now while it is still available  and possibly the purple Ogre later.

I have both as well. Greenie is a skid/flip monster as long as you have some backends. Blurple is more arc, but can still cover alot of boards. Can't go wrong with either. I'd recommend getting both!

Someone is going to say this sooner or later, so I might as well be the one. The Green Meanie is more closely related to the Ogre SS in ball reaction, but people have found some difference between them. The GG is almost a "goto" ball for when the Ogre Pearl can't get thru the heads cleanly enough.
