Title: Ogre Particle
Post by: lenstanles703 on August 23, 2008, 07:21:31 AM
Got to try this ball at my home house. THS wood lanes had a few games on the oil. Wanted an even test so I sanded Ogre Solid to 1000 abralon so surfaces were similar. Now that the particles are "activated" the PO reads the mid lane earlier but has a little less backend hook. Both balls are drilled label leverage. Can play up the boards with speed but the shot is much more comfortable inthe middle with lots of oil. Great ball very good carry. Thanks VBP!

so will this thing handle a flood on proanvilanes with absolutely no dry anywhere?
probably not?
would it work good on the same shot but once a track is worn in but still no backends?
I'm not looking for a big hook monster, just something that can finish on this shot.I haven't had the pleasure of playing on a shot with alot of oil in years and I love it but nothing I have could finish very well.
the ball looks good, thinking about trying it.

I think it would work fine on heavily oiled synthetics. I tried it on a THS on worn synthetics and it just got stronger and stronger. Needs a little oil to activate particles and then it reads earlier. You could also give it more surface, I haven't tried that yet. Back to the spinner!

Can you use an acetone/alcohol 50/50 mixture to clean the Ogre Particle? I know acetone is illegal but just asking if anyone does this. I have found very few cleaning products that will clean particle balls very well, but this mixture always does very well on reactive balls..

Just wanted to make sure the acetone would not mess up the particles in the cover..

Jim, even if you don't water down the acetone, it shouldn't hurt the ball.  USBC and manufacturers will probably not agree.  Wipe on, wipe off.  Not the same as soaking your ball in a tub of acetone for an extended period of time.  What you do while not in the bowling center is your business.  Acetone works.

Jim,

I use a 50/50 mix of Simple Green and rubbing alcohol to clean my Granite Gargoyle and it works just fine. If it can get THAT ball clean, it can get any ball clean! I don't know if acetone is bad for a bowling ball, but I'd be leary of putting anything on my $100 ball that can strip paint! Perhaps you could ask Jason what he recommends to clean your Ogre Particle. He's always willing to help out his customers.
