Need some suggestions. The house I bowl in resurfaced the lanes and they act completely different than they did last year. Last season there were a lot of 600 series and last night there were NONE and only a handful of 500's. Mostly 400 series', I know it was the first night of league....BUT...

I have a Solid Ogre, & Solid Gladiator both at oob. Last night used the Gladiator, Ogre Pearl and Break Pearl and they moved very little. What do I do for an adjustment? Will the lanes start acting like they use to or is the "new" conditions that I will be bowling on?

I have no idea. I heard toward the end of the evening that they had refinnished all of the lanes and approaches.

So you are seeing beaucoup oil?

If so and I'd assume as much.....most propreitors put a lot of oil down after resurfacing to protect them to start with.

Do you have an FMG or anything that will roll earlier?

Earliest rolling would be the Solid Ogre.

I think that it was a little heavier than normal oil. There was not the normal dry outside to use. Saw a lot of gutter balls.

Yep you have a flatter gutter to gutter condition where you don't have that miss room to the outside which spells doom for us guys that have had miss room to the outside and like to play swing shots whether they are boomers or play smaller swing shots on this kind of pattern you'll need practice. Lots of propreitors do this after resurfacing to protect the lanes.

Problem with the Pumpkin is small diff. and not a lot of motor to miss outside and bring it back. You'll have to square up and play tighter. Maybe practice on it so you know what to expect. Lesser tilt and staying under it will get it into a roll earlier.

If scores plummet he'll open 'em up. Always a good way to start the season.

Should I try taking the covers down on either of the Ogre or Gladiator? Both are out of box now.

Sure, there is nothing wrong with doing that. Visionary covers are and have always been very easy to change. I would recommend using wet sandpaper rather than abralon, due to the fact that the sandpaper will give you a more gritty surface than the abralon pads.

Take your gladiator down to 600 and watch what happens!! This ball is great for surface changes and only gets better on oil as you take the cover to a lesser grit.

Solid Glad has more flare potential than the Pumpkin assuming both drilled the same. Pumpkin OOB 600 matte Solid Glad. 2000ab. Glad. will move more if you take it down a notch. Really depends on your technique and how you are attempting to play the lanes.

Then, factor this in.....your propreitor looks at the scores and says OMG I've got to do something and does the reversal of what you saw for the next week and does a 180. Makes for fun bowling and that's why when people "say how come you bring a truckload of equipment???" That's why huh MC!

Exactly, and I almost left the Glad at home last night and took my Green Gargoyle. I would have been throwing my spare ball for strike ball

I will take the Glad down for Friday night and be ready for it. I will post an update after Friday.

Personally I recommend just adjusting the Ogre solid, and leaving the Gladiator at box. I really like the ogre at burgandy scotchbrite pad. You dont want to change both cause what if they change the shot?

Never shot with the Ogre Solid, but based on what I hear about the ball, I would think the Glad solid cover change would deal with the lane conditions as is. If changed, the Ogre solid in OOB should be fine so long as there's head oil from what I remember and something else....aka Greenie....for lane transition.

AND if the lanes stay that way......look at an Ogre Particle. Just got my BTM on Monday and they rate the Ogre Particle very high for a heavy oil lane condition. I haven't had a chance to get one yet.
