Solid Gladiator compared to the solid Ogre
« on: November 20, 2008, 05:33:28 AM »
I have them both but haven't thrown the Ogre solid since last year when I got it at Nationals.  I have the Gladiator pearl and solid and have been throwing the Gladiator solid most of the time.

So how does the solid Ogre and solid Gladiator differ?

Thanks,

Here's my experiences. I have or had both got rid of the Solid Ogre laid out same....same cover 2000ab.

Solid Gladiator slightly more track flare depending if they were laid out same.  Cover slightly stronger on Solid Glad but not much.  For me the Solid Glad goes slightly longer....both smooth.  On flatter patterns is where the Solid Glad is better than the Solid Ogre....lower diff. on the Solid Ogre can make it wiggle if you don't catch it clean off your hand.....Solid Glad. better here.  On a wetter/drier THS for some depending on your game Solid Ogre might be better as the Solid Ogre might stand up better off the dry.  Solid Glad. better continuation thru deck.  Really depends on what you seek in a ball and how you attack the pattern.  Pick your poison.

FWIW....Solid Glad is my "benchmark" out of the bag or another non-Vis. ball.  Solid Glad. replaced Char Ex for me.

Thanks Scott.  The Gladiator solid is the first ball out of my bag currently and I'm trying to work in the Gladiator pearl. The two I'm working with is the Special Agent pin over the bridge cg kicked right polished and the Agent with the pin alongside the ring finger and cg kicked right a touch.

The Ogre solid, Gladiator pearl and solid are all drilled the same, pin under my ring finger cg kicked right a touch.  If I get along side the Gladiator solid too quickly, I know its a 10 pin unless I get lucky and get a messanger.  Many o the bowlers I'm bowling with ask me what ball I'm throwing because it gets good length and a very strong move to the pocket.

I'm working with the Agent Orange to have a ball that is stronger and reads earlier then the Gladiator solid and I think its going to be a great combination.

Thanks for the reply.
