Title: The Classic
Post by: scotts33 on April 24, 2012, 09:35:27 AM
I see on bowl.com USBC new approved ball list Visionary has a new ball listed for April 2012.  It's called the Classic.  http://usbcongress.http.internapcdn.net/usbcongress/bowl/equipandspecs/pdfs/approved_balllist.pdf

Jason what can you tell us about this ball?  Is this the start of the balls to replace the Ogre line?  . We'd like to know more if you can tell us about release date and specs, what it would compare to and what lane conditions you see most being able to use it on.

Thanks!

Scott

That ball was made specifically for TCBA members. As far as I know it is not available to purchase unless you bowl in the TCBA Travel league.

One of my team mates on my Thursday team drilled his up last week but I haven't talked to him about the reaction etc.

My first child.. Hannah Allison Kiser 4 years old and my little angel!!

DV8-Damn good bowling balls!!

I also like AMF/900 Global..

Jason was going to check and see if it would be available to the general public, but since I don't recall hearing back, it probably is not.

How many would be interested in it if it were made available?

Here are the specs:

Anyway, it is a hybrid that uses a modified version of the original Gryphon  inner, along with a very light wrap.  This generated a slight Y spin assymetry  (.006" intermediate differential), with an RG of 2.52" and a total differential  of .052".  The cover is a modified version of the React-A-Tack cover, so the  ball is going to be very driller friendly and be a pretty good all around ball  for medium house conditions.

I am a TCBA member and when the ball was offered to us early last fall I remember reading something saying it would ONLY be available to TCBA members. I did not buy one then but I was told I could call Jason up and buy one now. I didn't buy it before because I knew nothing about the specs. After reading them it looks pretty interesting. My team mate will have his at league tomorrow night so I will ask him how he likes it so far and maybe see it in action. It does have TCBA engraved on the ball.

My first child.. Hannah Allison Kiser 5 years old and my little angel!!

If it is as in bold below a hybrid React-A-Tack then that would be interesting but otherwise a React-a-Tack solid with  the same specs.  FMG or a pearl with same specs G-3 would not interest me as they have been covered and I have them both.

I have seen lots of Classic's in action the past 3 days here at the TCBA playoffs in Houston. Very strong heavy rolling ball for both men and woman. I have noticed multiple bowling styles dooing well with it. I have also had the pleasure of spending alot of time talking Jason's ear off with all types of questions. I see why Visionary is so customer friendly as he will always take the time to answer any and all questions in a pleasent voice and with a smile. He is a great guy and Visionary is lucky to have him. I picked up a Classic, Mixed Breed Solid and Mixed Breed Pearl to try out. Jason layed them them out for me so now just need to get them punched up when I get back in Dallas. For all you guys wanting to try the Classic, just be patient and you might get waht you ask for!!

How would the Classic compare to the Spartan? I consider the Spartan a heavy rolling ball. Would the Spartan be more for heavier oil and the Classic more medium conditions? The specs seem close.

A little birdy told me the ball is available to the general public now and is listed on the Visionary Bowling site under the 'Custom' line.

Smart move by the travel league, make it available to the general public and get something out of it.

Its little things like this that makes me like the smaller companies.

Very mild Asym with a modified Frankie May cover.  Here you go Scotts just what you have been asking for.

Yep I like the looks of it....like the cover....y-spinner...my driller can use his DeTerminator and get dual angle correct.

I did chuckle when i saw Jason noted that this was a Y spin ball on the webpage.

I really dont think he will be messing with Z spin balls again anytime soon.  I had no issues laying out mine as i understood the concept, but im guessing he got sick of all the calls about it.

The hybrid cover on a this core makes me excited to give it a try. Should give a nice look on the lanes.

Got ours drilled last saturday, and was a little shocked how strong it is.  60 x 4 x 30 on a freshish stone street pattern.  It was easily 3 - 4 boards stronger than the MB Pearl.

Carry was good and as we burnt up the track area moving in was not a issue at all.  I will get a video up by end of this week i am hoping.
