Hey everyone,

Don't forget that I am running the same video contest as before, and the winner will get our next release....the Gladiator Pearl.  Keep in mind the same rules are in effect for this contest.

Any videos that were entered into the previous contest will not be eligible in this contest.

Nice videos so far, but keep them coming, because we need atleast 10-15 videos before I can pick a winner.  I am going to extend the contest another 2 weeks to try and get more videos, so the new date will be the April 30th.

To those of you who have sent in videos already, I will definitely take into consideration that you got yours in before the original deadline.

P.S. Rock, Darkman nice videos.

  Jason,

I'm not one to criticize, but, why extend the deadline while asking for more videos, only to turn around and tell everyone that those who got their videos in by the original deadline will receive preferential treatment?

I wouldn't mind making a video if I had the proper equipment (which I don't), but extending the deadline while telling those being solicited that the earlier entries will have an advantage probably isn't going to get many positive responses.

Youall make some really good equipment, as good as ANYTHING I have used, but with your limited market share, and peoples limited ability to make and produce videos, maybe your expectations were a bit too high, eh?

Hey Juggernaut

I'm not saying that the winner or second place person will come from the videos already submitted, however, if I think that two videos are of equal quality, I am more likely to pick the one that was made prior to the original date.

I don't think that my expectations were too high in any way.  If I had limited it to our latest ball, or required the use of professional editing software, I would agree with you.  However, there are a lot of people out there with digital cameras that have video capabilities, and if I'm not mistaken, XP comes with video editing software that is quite capable of making good videos.

This contest is just as much about creativity and effort as it is about appearance.  Some of the simplest videos can have the most impact.

Yeah I agree, I could have turned mine in today but seeing as how there werent 10 videos yet, I figured you would extend the deadline and thus I could have more time to better my own video, so I purposely did not turn it in today.

For me, it's not so much giving the on-time videos preferential treatment, it's more the fact that now some other people have that extra time to improve their video after watching what was already turned in.

I mean, we all did what we could in the timeframe we had. If we had the extra two weeks, our videos may have been significantly better than what they are.

Hi Rock,

There is no reason that you can't modify, use new footage, or create a new video during these two weeks.  I will watch all of the videos again on the 30th, and no matter how many entries I have, I will pick winners on that day.  If you feel that you can improve on your video, by all means please do so.

I guess the main reason that I extended it, and the reason that I am a little disappointed, is because out of the 30+ emails that I received asking me to run the video promotion again, only 1 of those people actually submitted an entry.

In addition, I literally receive 100's of requests each year for amateur staff positions or comp balls from bowlers who frequent this site, and this was an opportunity for them to showcase their ability and/or make an effort to win a ball.  I know for a fact that many of these bowlers have digital video cameras, and editing software, because they have sent me links to the youtube videos they have created.

Again, I want to thank all of you who have submitted a video so far. I'm sorry that the extension is such an issue, but I want to give those who emailed me, one last opportunity to be involved with the contest.

The way I see this is treat this contest as if it were the last video contest of its kind.  Have fun with this unique opportunity and show how cool these bowling balls are!

Jason,

I don't have the ability to shoot/edit video's otherwise I would have done so.

I figure with the price that test staff members are able to purchase Visionary equipment that is a pretty good deal to start.

Good luck to all that did shoot or will shoot video's!

I really don't see why its such a big deal that he extended it.  #1 its his contest he can do as he pleases with it. and #2 as Jason said, just because he extended it and is give people some extra time to get theirs in doesn't mean that people who have already turned vidoes in can't improve upon theirs.  I have been trying for weeks to get with my friend that has the video editing software that we are going to use since I don't have any.  Finally got together with him just to find out that his program is not compatable with my video camera.  So now we have to try and get some more video shot with another camera and thats getting even tougher to do.  I frankly appreciate the extra time.  Still not sure if I will get it finished but it at least gives those of us that had real problems an extra chance to do this.

Jeremy

P.S.  Sorry about all the negative responses Jason, you didn't deserve that, after all your the one being nice enough to give away one of your bowling balls FOR FREE.  You really are a stand up guy.  Thanks.

I'd like to second that.  Thanks for running this promotion and taking the time and interest in this site and replying to the questions as you did in the other topics.

I don't have a camera so I can't participate but I enjoy watching the ones that have been posted so please keep them coming.

Here is my second (and final) submission for April's video-thon....

*I recommend minimizing the video in the youtube player by pressing the first square just to the right of the volume control in the player.  It will make the video much clearer...

For those who don't want to expend the energy to go to page one, this was the original submission:

Thanks again for the comments and constructive criticisms, and good luck to everyone who is participating!

Hey Jason, Hannah,
Nice to see some new names on here, and thank you for posting the videos.

Dropptonhed,
Very nice video.  The only negative I saw was that the music got a little distorted, but that I'm sure is a editing software issue.  Nicely done!

Imjouster and MI 2 AZ,
Thanks for your support, I appreciate it very much.

Let's keep them coming

Nice effort dropptonhed!

As for me I got one more Visionary Bowling Ball that I'll do a video of - if I have enough spare time.  I think I'll dig out the Red Sorcerer, which I have been collecting for some time now.  I'll likely do a comparison between the The Red Sorcerer and the Original Faball Black Hammer.  In my opinion nothing beats the old Faball Hammers, however what I should discover is that the Sorcerer has more punch at the backend.  Both balls should work fine because my house has gone back to the light to medium shot that I am used to.

On a Red Sorcerer note I picked up one for my brother this past year on ebay.  He loves the ball and has shot some nice sets with it including a 700 series a few weeks ago 231, 233, 236 carrying a 192 average!  I think his average is up some 10 pins since last years' conclusion and part of that improvement could be due to the ball change.  I just might have converted him into a Visionary Believer!

Here is a video showcaseing the Red Sorcerer.  This urethane I believe was Visionary's First Urethane bowling ball.  Unfortunatly, I could not get my brother filmed throwing the same ball.  Would have been really neat to see 2 lefties throwing the same ball and seeing the different reactions.  My brother fires the ball, where as I have a much smoother style - makes for an interesting contrast.  Anyways here is the link -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loBVv5quCA0&feature=user

I also show a brief comparison between the original Faball Black Hammer and Visionary's Red Sorcerer!  Kind of neat comparison, I'll always love my Black Hammer, one of the most awsume balls ever made and still today in my opinion it rivals the hit and performance of most balls.

I got into Visionary and actually found Visionary by searching for Faball stuff and it so happened I came across a thred talking about a link between Visionary and Faball.  After that I have searched out older Visionary Urethane Balls like the Sorcerer, the Glowing Amulet, the Slate Blue Gargoyle, the Midnight Scorcher and then I won the Gladiator which is a great ball for my style as long as there is enough oil.  Unfortunatly in my house the shot is typically light to medium.

Anyways, I am definitly a Visionary Believer.  Hopefully the videos have been interesting and fun to look at.

Darkman, check out the Scorcher NPT.  I think it reacted like a stronger Blue Hammer.
