Slate Blue Gargoyle

I just purchased a Slate Blue Gargoyle, and I was wondering what people thought about it. I have read it was a great light oil ball, and that's precisely what I'm looking for.

Will it be a good ball for me to pick up for the third game, when the lanes are broken down and my Vertigo or The One is coming in too high?

I bowl at only one house which has synthetic lanes, it is here that in the third game I am rolling over to the Slate Blue 9 times out of 10. It has worked wonders for me as the third game ball and on the reverse block. When my others Gargoyles are coming high this ball solves the problem.

The Vertigo and The one are both pretty aggressive balls.  you will find that the slate blue(drilled strong) Will still not hook very much.  You'll have to move outside with it and play the dry with it.  Ball still has great hit and everything, just not sure if its exactly what your looking for.  But I'd still keep it so that you have a ball for toast.

Yeah, I don't mind a ball I have to play outside. Before I got these two other balls, I played the dry side of the lane with my Monster, and I don't mind adjusting.

You don't "have to" play the outside; it all depends on your "hand", the drilling and the actual oil pattern. It is for light oil, in general. It is a GOOD ball for light oil, up to as much as medium-light oil, depending on the above factors.

This is true, but please place the emphasis on the word "light."  It is not for DRY!  I have a Slate, polished to a mirror finish.  I got ambushed by bone dry lanes in my mixed league on Saturday night, and being caught without plastic, I had to use my Slate.  I was hooking the lane with it--with speed--by the third game, and it was still too much ball.  I just couldn't kill it enough.  

It's a great ball on light, but it's a monster on dry.
