What Is Visionary Lacking?
« on: January 25, 2004, 10:23:48 PM »
Scotts33 mentioned in another topic that Visionary does not have enough solid reactives in their current lineup.  After reviewing the lineup, I have to agree.  Lately I find that I will go to other companies solid reactives because the Charcoal doesnt really work well for me and I dont use pearls that often.

I would like to see a ball like the Blue Warlock back in Visionary's lineup.  It was a versatile solid reactive that could handle the medium to heavy oil conditions and was very predictable or controllable.  That would be the number 1 need that I would like to see filled.  What do any of you think that Visionary should add to their current lineup?

The only line that doesn't have a solid it the gargoyle line.

YES!!! The DC Tour,

One of the best ball that they have had (glad I have 3 of them )

I like the DC core and think that they do need to do something with it again,
or just simply re-release The DC Tour.

I have a midnight also, but I haven't been able to find a flood for it.

I had a DC Tour, but that was drilled by someone who was not too good and I never cared for it, so I got rid of it.  I wish I had kept it and had it redrilled by my present driller.  So, I never got to play with that core much.  How good was that core?   And why?

Simplest way for me to put it
is it is a lot like the crimson sledgehammer core
Or the pink hi rev core, except, I think the rg
in the Sledge was a little lower.

Oops, my bad.  Somehow I was thinking that the Blue Sparkle was a pearl.  It is polished and gets more length than my Blue Warlock, so I just thought that it was a pearl.

Got to go now.  Was going to say more.

the blue sparkle has mica in it to give it a little length and take the over/under out of it.

I wish I still had mine. the best med/light ball I have ever owned.

Yes I did.  I don't really feel the Blue Sparkle Gryphon is a true solid.  Yes, it can be adjusted but it's really a semi-pearl. Why would they have mica in it if it was a true solid.  It's more of a semi-peralized version.  Least that's the way I think of it.  Visionary goes for more pearlized balls than any company I know.  G-3 would be the newest pearl ball to come out. Why I am not sure.  Maybe have that cover down better than most. Char Ex is really the only solid reactive they have in their current lineup.  DC Tour and Blue Warlock aren't current.  I tried to get a short pin Blue Warlock from them in 15 lbs. no luck.

They haven't developed a light load pearl particle that most can use.  The Purple Ice Ex rolls to early for me and many say the same thing.  You'd see more of them in use if it wasn't such an early rolling ball.  The Purple Ice Ex wasn't developed as a regular light load ball but they are missing the boat there IMO.

I have gone to other companies this year to fill the holes.  DT Thing <best solid reactive I've had since Storm Erase-It...still use the Erase-It>  DT Thing Returns <could have used Crimson Executioner here but love the soaker cover>, MoRich OnSlaught <light load pearl with more length and  "real" asymmetrical core>, Track Dry Heat <great solid reactive dry lane ball small flare good length reminds me of movement of Col. Power Torq's years back>.

This is why I say I am somewhat dissapointed in Visionary's line up this last couple of years.  The three regular type balls that I love from Visionary are Crimson Ex., Char. Ex. & Granite Gargoyle have shot honor scores with all.  Blue Sparkle was OK nothing special.  I still have an Amulet Glow and a Midnight Scorcher great limited lane condition balls....not main line though.

These are just my opinions.  Fit my roll and lane conditions I play on.  Others may do much better with Visionary stuff than I do no doubt.  I do like working with the company.  Great people.  If they come out with something that fits a niche I may keep my test staff membership.

One other thing.  Guys like Mustang Guy-Roger Noordhook <sp?> tech. director from Roto and newguy <Phil Cardinale> owner DynoThane come on their respective forums and post regularily to help the respective customers that are thinking about purchasing equipment or have already bought balls from their companies.  Why hasn't one of the Wonders picked up the ball so to speak and done the same thing here?  Just wondering.

Scott,

I feel the same way about the Blue Sparkle.  I thought it was a pearl at first.

I was wondering the same thing about someone from Visionary posting here, so I sent them an email over the weekend and got a reply from them explaining why they do not participate here.  I do not want to post it here so I will send you a copy of the email if you want it.  Message me if you do.

Until Visionary introduced the Gryphons, they really only had two basic ball lines, Midrange, and mid to high end.

As already stated i also though they were in need of another solid ball. Also the new G-3 is there first ball that isn't mono tone being multiple colors. Also i have found i have had a problem with the logoing always falling out.

All of the executioners where not hugh flaring bowling balls, until the Gryphon Burgandy was released there not a ball that really huge for me on the backends from visionary.

Although the burgandy is still my all time favorite ball. Polished or shined it was wonderful for me.

What they do need to do is take that base resin cover stock from the Burgandy gryphon which was stronger than the char exe's resin i believe, and place it on a big flaring core.

also my second idea would be a pearl particle but placing it on the core of say the DC Tour, creating a strong hooking but not early ball, something that squirts less than the crimson or green gargoyle.
