I had had troubles with mine with a light polish and with a 4000 grit matte finish. Drilling: 4x4, pin next to ring finger, CG, 1" PAP side of grip center. The 4000 grit worked best but I couldn't carry the back row. Executed about 750 worth, scored 600. Oil was probably between medium-light and medium with carrydown by end of 1st game until beginning of 3rd game. I used breakpoint of 5 board to go around carrydown.
Back to the drilling table. Plugged and redrilled, put pin under the center of the bridge and kicking the CG out 1.5" from the grip line and 1.5" below the midline, no weight hole. Finish still at 4000 grit.
Tonight I used it for first time since the re-drill. Oil was ever so slightly heavier, maybe true medium oil. I over-thought the transition in the 2nd game and went around the carrydown in the 3rd game: 238, 174, 260. The most astounding part of the night was I left ZERO 10 pins. I can't remember the last time I did that.
I think that the part I never got was how strong this Ogre solid coverstock is. Even at 4000 grit, I need a 5" pin to conserve energy. Funny.

Good Rollin'. I've only seen the OS once at a tournament in Virginia, and the guy throwing it was a bit fast (18-19mph) and didnt have alot of hand. So I couldn't tell anything about it really. The ball hit like a truck though, sending messengers across the deck like nobodies business. Maybe thats why he got away with playing in the OOB (strong cover). It made a smooth transition off the break too.

Spooky part, though, Scott, besides the no 10 pins, was that it seems to react better to evenmore oil than I had previously thought and still needs slightly more side rotation, even with this new drill, than is my norm.
I almost always try at least 2 layouts before deciding whether I want to keep a ball or not. This was only the first try. I have to use it more to see how it works out.
A good sign was that it responded well to slight changes in hand release to make it go around the carrydown in the 3rd game.
