USBC is a joke! Pepsi results changed
« on: May 24, 2007, 10:12:37 AM »
One young man here in Hemet,CA made it all the way to the state finals in the Pepsi youth bowling Championship that where held recently in Daly City CA. This young man bowled very well and qualified for the top 4 roll off in the 12 and over handicap division. He qualified 3rd and at the time thought that he had also qualified for the national championships in New York. He ends up losing his match and falls to 4th place which still entitles him to go to new York. This young man gets a phone call last week by the USBC and informs him of the following: That he is NO LONGER going to represent California in New York due to a change in the final results. Another young man bowled the state finals and was DQed due to some issue with his certification. There was an appeal made to the national USBC and his DQ was overturned. This young man bowled very well also, he would have led the state finals. So the USBC made the ruling that the final standings would use the roll off results and place the leader (who got dq) 2nd because in the step ladder finals that is the worst he could have finished. Dropping the person in second to third, and the person in third to 4th, and then the kid from Hemet 5th because he lost his match and now cant go to new York. THEY USED THE ROLL OFF RESULTS THAT A KID DID NOT EVEN BOWL IN TO CHANGE THE FINAL STANDINGS! THIS IS THE MOST INCOMPITANT RULING THEY COULD HAVE MADE! THE YOUNG MAN FROM HEMET WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN 4TH IN THE ROLL OFF AND THATS THE WORST HE COULD HAVE FINISHED AND IS NOT GOING BECAUSE USBC IS A JOKE!!!  WAY TO GO USBC, WAY TO ROB A KID OF GOING TO AN EVENT HE EARNED. WAY TO KEEP THEM INTRESTED, WAY TO KEEP MORAL UP, WAY TO JUST BE A JOKE! AND YOU WONDER WHY NOBODY WANTS TO BOWL WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other guy must have prebowled
My sympathies go out to the kid, to work that hard and then have it taken away by such bull%$D# as that.

He should also try to appeal which I don't know if that would work or not.

Way to go USBC

Somehow this doesn't surprise me. Since they already awarded the spot they shouldn't have adjusted the standings, but rather given the DQ'd kid a spot and let the others go also. USBC continues to show why they are a peice of work.

If you have followed youth bowling for the past two years, nothing should surprise you. They certify pre-bowled 900's under the threats of lawsuits and continue to live off the money from the kids. Don't worry, Dalkin the Visionary will solve world hunger once he ruins bowling once and for all. LOL.

It is a typical result found when authority is questioned, makes you wonder where the appeal came from, was it the parents who should have made sure that all certifications were correct. I am sure that this particular tournament didn't sneak up on everyone, that there was some notice on when this all was to happen

It is neither funny nor a correct way to have handled it, USBC states that they are intersted in supporting and marketing bowling towards the youth ( tomorrows future in the sport).

The sport of bowling may have lost another bright energetic youth, who now will turn his/her attention to another sport that won't screw him/her over

If at the very least maybe USBC should have them bowl the finals all over again.  If they can't do that, maybe have the 2 bowlers who this effects bowl for the spot.  The bowler that lost for 4th place knew in his mind he was still going to NY whether he won or lost.  If he knew he had to win to move on, he might have tried a little harder.  Just like in basketball, the teams that have a big lead let-up and that allows the other team to catch up.

What was the 1st appeal about DQ'd all about anyway? Certification about what?  Sanction?
