Going Adult

My son will be joining his first league as an adult this summer.  If the league calls for highest sanctioned winter average to be used as an entering average, does he use his junior average?

I believe he will have to establish an average...I can't remember for sure when I switched over 5 years ago because the first year I bowled an adult as just a sub.

In my area, the Youth uses his/her Youth average for entering average purposes.  I couldn't find anything in the Rule Book that gives a definitive answer.

I would check with the League Secretary or Bowling Center Management to verify.

There's only one league here that uses entering averages, and they only use them if you bowled in the league the previous season.  When I joined the league, I'd been bowling for two years in the house/association already but I still set an average the first night.

How does the league treat new bowlers with respect to entering averages?  My guess is that if he's never bowled that league before, he'll set a new one.

If your son was in a sanctioned Junior League, he will use that average.  An average is an average.  It doesn't matter where it's from.

It depends on the league rules. Some leagues will use the highest book average as a junior. Some scratch leagues make the junior come in at the cap which is whoever the highest bowler in the league is. Some handicap leagues will take your first 3 weeks or sometimes 7 weeks average and use that average
