I like the looks of this. Continued advances in junior bowling as serious sport with national level competition.

I like the sound of this.  However, the one complaint I have with this, and many other concepts like this, is the choice of locations.  The closest one to our city is over 600 miles away.  Not sure if it would be worth the travel for area youths considering they don't bowl that much.  There can be teams where the most an individual will bowl is 24 frames for the whole weekend.  Only two games for a 1300 mile round trip?

Edit:  I hate sounding negative.  I like the idea of regionals for youths, but lets make the trips worth it.  Have the teams bowl regular games for seeding purposes for double elimination baker matches.  Bowling 8 games of baker on day one might take less than 2 hours.

This is a program that they have just started last year. Last year they held 4 regional tournaments, this year 8 and next year the plan is for 16 leading up to a national event based on the 16 regionals. My guess is like everything else they want to make sure the time and effort they are putting into this does not go to waste.

I realize it is a new program.  But the format seems a bit wonky to me.  It isn't enough for me to consider if I was a competitive youth unless it was in my city.  Perhaps that is all they are trying for right now.  But I got the impression it was intended as much more than that.  If you are devoting time and effort for tournament officials and the such, it seems like having participants only bowl 2 games over two days is a bit ridiculous.

Yeah, the locations are a little weird. Some bunching in the Midwest. I mean Illinois AND Indiana? Closest one to us is Staten Island. Just about two hours. Heck I do that on half his tournament weekends.  Of course getting a team together will take some work.

I see it as a work in progress so let's see how it progresses over the next couple years. 16 regionals next year should be more inclusive than 8. I hope.
